Lewyt did make a PN version of the Lewyt Big Wheel, which came out in 1957 if I remember correctly, & along with Whirlpool was the two first power nozzle canisters introduced into the marketplace. Actually, it was Lewyt's power nozzle & their design that caused them to be sued & go bankrupt, & SCM Corporation purchasing Lewyt. The Lewyt's design took the power for the power nozzle off the motor windings directly, instead of having a receptacle & a pigtail cord on the electrified hose or external cord to supply power; rather, the current went directly thru the hose, & was sent thru the wands directly to the power nozzle, eliminating the need for a external cord for the power nozzle as well as the pigtail cord & receptacle on the canister end. However, this was a HUGE mistake on their part....when the varnish on the motor windings got hot enough & melted off, the design malfunctioned & caused so much current to go thru the hose & wands, it actually electrocuted people! Which caused lawsuits against Lewyt by owners & their bankruptcy, which I believe happened in 1961 if memory serves correct.
The Lewyt Big Wheel power nozzle was also unique in that it used no flat or geared belt to transfer the power from the motor to turn the brushroll. Instead, there was a plastic geared wheel on the motor, which turned a smaller wheel mounted on the brushroll, which caused it to turn & brush the carpet.
