Hey guys n gals.. I was just curious I recently acquired a U4103 convertible estate.. Metal based.. Took it apart and noticed it had a plastic fan and a metal top cooling fan.. I've also seen plastic convertibles with metal impeller fans and plastic top cooling fans.. Was there a reason for this? Was this possibly a phasing out of metal parts to plastic? I know this particular u4103 phased into plastic bases... Just curious if anyone has encountered mixed metal and plastic fans tops/bottoms

How many blades are on the plastic fan that your model has? If it's a 6 blade plastic fan then the fan on your machine was replaced! Generally older style Convertibles had metal bases and metal fans. As far as the cooling fan I know older models were metal too and then plastic came in the picture at some point.
Convertibles were on the market for many years and come in various forms!!!!
But generally a metal base machine had the model information engraved into the medal or was a plate added but not a paper label or similar. Most metal based Convertibles were rated as 420 Watts Floor mode.
When plastic base machines came out, then all machines had a paper label or similar sort. Power of motors was written in Amps and not Watts. Early models were 4.3 Amp then came the very common 4.8 Amp, 5.0. The Convertible 700 had a 6.5 Amp motor which is the aame as the Decade 800. The Decade 80 had 6.0 amp motors.
