Calling All Eureka Model-M Owners

I know there are at least a couple of you out there,I recently picked up one of these design classics and I think there needs to be at least one thread on them,pictures,history,tips and tricks,etc. Everyone who has come across one of these beauties post a picture and a little about it. My understanding is these are pretty rare.

Some Pics of my model M Challenger

This is my M cleaning ensemble. The vacuum is all original and complete with paperwork. The original owner must have used it gently. I acquired it from the estate of a vacuum collector and it needed just a dust up and belt.

The hose is great with no leakage and it only came with the one wand and the attachments pictured. The, "M", was also known as the, "Challenger".

The owner's manual lists the attachments as: 8" long brush, 2 3/4" round brush, 7" aluminum nozzle, radiator tufter, 31" extension tube, 8' hose, Eureka Sanitor, (not pictured but I have it), and special coupler to convert for use with attachments.

Interesting to note the hose is 8 feet. Plenty of manueuverability without knocking over the vacuum! Also, one of the few that came with a guarantee bond.

That certainly is a nice one! Is there a way you could scan in the manual so I could have a copy to go with mine? Also what belt do you use?

The model "M". I have two in my collection. I've always thought it was interesting how slow the brush roller rotates, and how the fans is without a back plate.

My grandparents had a Model M

I was in the car the day that my mother picked it up from my grandparents' house, along with a Constellation Model 82. It was 1969 and The Junior League of Corpus Christi was having a rummage sale. I was very headstrong and I wanted that Model M. She wouldn't allow...said it was "dirty because it didn't use paper bags". I wore her down and got to keep the Connie 82 instead.

I need to find a new brushroll for mine or re-bristle the one that it has but I have witnessed the fan in all it's glory,it's basically a sheet steel paddle wheel. Well she wasn't wrong about the dust but that certainly would have been a good one to pick up.
