Antoine, can you show us a pic of how you modified the Type C bag to work in the Renaissance? The Type C bags are easier to buy in bulk, and easier to find HEPA Cloth versions, so this would be helpful to everyone on here who has a Renaissance, Epic 8000 or Guardian.

The previous owner probably put the switch in there to bypass the circuit board inside the canister. A shame he did that :(

Best of luck to you with your new business venture.

I passed up one of those at Goodwill a year or so ago. It looked like it had seen gentle use, and they only wanted $10 for it, but I decided it was too far out of my traditional Electrolux ecosystem, too much plastic, and too many circuit boards. Somebody else immediately snatched it up, so I don't feel too bad about it. I sometimes think maybe I should have bought it, especially for that price, but then again, it's just not my type of machine.

People who know about my vacuum obsession sometimes ask me why I don't sell some of them off, and the simple truth is that by the time I've got one put to rights, I've put so much of myself into it, I can't bear to part with it. Ridiculous, I know, but there you have it. Also, I tend to sink too much money into the machines, which I would never be able to get back out of them.

that i understand a 100% i have a few that i restored but will never get my money back why did i restore it because i love compact c8 and family member had one and that's worth more than money but cheap vac on Facebook fix repair sell i don't feel bad about i do have my collection of machine to play with if you will. So selling vacuum wont be to bad since i have my own stash of machine i collect and restore. if that make sense.

Would any one know how   to  fix the control on handle  it works when i plug in the power nozzle it  sends  power but cant change speed of motor  is it hose problem or in canister i should look?

I    never had a variable speed  vacuum id like to fix it previous owner added    a switch  how to re wire it  to make control on hose work??? thanks yalll.

Hey

You know type c vacuum bags are cheaper than duck tape.
I don't know about variable speed but I'm guessing where you adjust it is where the problem is. I'm guessing because dimming light switches the issues with the dimmer switch.
Nice score on the vacuum.

Nice

How strong I'd the suction compared to compact? I know that version is built like a tank. I fixed one for a co worker and it was a very nice machine.
This would fetch a pretty penny too.

Its good ,

its pretty good so  far as is  .

But  i need  the  hose circuit board and  canister circuit board  mine  are missing and wired to a switch  directly   dam  i got  ....... on this deal i need 2 motor board.

That circuit board in the main unit and handle was the achillies heel of the Renaissance hence why no parts are made. Your best bet is to call Bryan Satterwhite at Virginia Aerus. They have helped many collectors including myself with parts and other Electrolux needs. I'm sure they have some donor units laying around that they can send you parts from.

Antoine, if I was in your position, I would scrap trying to repair and resell the vacuum, and just keep it for yourself. Not only are you looking at spending about $200 and up for the board, chances are whoever installed the switch would have messed up and changed ALL the canister's internal wiring harness to do so.

Sorry, I hate to be a Debbie Downer like this, but it's the truth. Hope you have better luck with the next vacuum you find ok.

you know the more  i look  at it  the more i think i got  handed   a   dust bag  lol   for lack of better wor d but she runs  i might  change the hose due to it loosing connection on  the power nozzle side but thats it it works  thats what matters ty i just sooo wanted  to fix one  sell one  get my business started you know.

I would look first at whether the plastic clip on the hose handle needs to be replaced or it's a bad wand connection. Or could be a wire needs to be seated and glued in place properly. All very fixable without necessarily having to spend money on a new hose. Besides, hate to say it, I wouldn't throw a dime into it....if anything, run it into the ground and save the usable parts from it.

Also check the powerhead neck wiring....is that not tape I see in your first photo? Plus those powerhead necks are known to have wiring issues as they age and need replacement.
