I have been wondering if aggressive brush roll with the stiff bristles can cause damage to the delicate carpeting. My vacuum cleaner is a Kärcher CV36/2. It has very stiff and short bristles (basically copy of SEBO BS36 & Windsor Versamatic). This came to my mind when I vacuumed my parents medium pile very soft white carpet with it. After vacuuming I discovered that it picked up ALOT of carpet fluff. I used the second highest height setting.
What people in here think about this?

I would assume that perhaps your assessment is correct? But maybe ok if you are not using it on that carpet often? Again, just a guess. That was a nice looking machine you videoed.

I might just use my AEG canister vacuum with the Miele SEB-217 powerhead (soft bristles) regularly and then use the upright about once a month to give a more deep cleaning.

Yes aggressive brush rolls with stiff bristles WILL cause damage to delicate carpeting. There’s a delicate brush roll strip available from SEBO with green bristles. It should slip into the brush roll of the Karcher will no problems; goes under model number 2046G.

Alternatively try the 4th setting or highest setting on the upright if you must use it on delicate flooring. Personally I use delicate brush strips on ALL of my Sebo uprights BAR the X1 Auto which is fine with its standard brush roller.

What type of vacuum do your Parent's have?

I don't know if you live with your Parents and do all of the vacuuming. If you brought this vacuum over to use on their carpets, then, I could see that you got a lot of fluff up. What type of vacuum do your Parents have? New? Older? Upright? Canister with a powernozzle? Also, is the carpeting new? Is it wool? I have only wool carpeting in my house and it always "pills" thus causing a lot of fluff when I vacuum. Just my ideas, hope it will help you somehow.
Best,
Eric

I don't live with my parents. They have very good straight suction canister vacuum with huge suction power of 500 air watts (Philips PerformerPro FC9193). It used to be mine, but I gave it to them because they needed full-size bagged canister vacuum.
But no matter what suction it has it's still just a straight suction vacuum and that carpet has never been vacuumed with anything else.
I was like a some vacuum salesman when I demonstrated my upright with the cyclone separator. Transparent bin showed everything what their vacuum missed. Carpet was just vacuumed to make my "presentation" more dramatic :D
My Mom always keep their appartment in very clean so she was shocked how filthy carpet was :)
Later I gave my Electrolux turbo head to them to give extra cleaning ability to their vacuum.
I also have quite delicate carpets (shag) in my own appartment so that's why I am concerned.
