My new U1222 from Andy. Lovely machine (if anyone has a cord hook in the right colour with the spring please let me know!) but a bit rattly. I knew what I had to do!

As got. Belt on it was pretty good, and Genuine Hoover.

Slung a new belt on just in case

Nothing.

So I pulled the brushroll bearings out

From Turbopower U1222 B

Much better!

And the proof

The noise was there to start with, but after 20-30 seconds running I took the photo. Already the clattering had subsided. Will give it a good run tomorrow to bed them in. Such a shame I cant do the same for the motor bearings.

Heres mine

at least yours were cleaner lol
I like to take them apart tbh although those C-clips are a pain :P

I just let them soak in a good strong solvent that dissolves all the crud, and then complely rinsing them out to remove all that's left. Then I use the Hoover grease gun to inject fresh stuff.

If I had a Hoover grease gun I'd use it with pride!

Whilst I did a few sets like this, in the end, when I got my Qualtex account bought 20 sets of new pattern bearings. I find that, whilst they clean up nicely everything is worn, so once the grease has flung and settled it goes back to being a bit loose, although not as dry sounding.

Did get in touch with an ex hoover engineer who still had lots of bits and he sent me 10 New old stock, which are better than the pattern ones, much tighter. Still got a few sets but want to keep them for now for something special!
