I found this little devil hiding away at my favorite Salvation Army, for 10 bucks I had to have it! I had one many years ago but sold it.

Great find! I seen one sell on eBay for $25 last month but I didn't have any money. Very cute vacuum! What are those arrow marks on the handle for? I don't recall seeing those before on photos I looked at in the past.

Nice find! I've always kinda wanted one of these but have always managed to pass them by. A couple have come into Habitat, I think even the blue Pro version. Another thrift store I rarely go to had one for a long time, it may still be there even.
I also saw one on the side of the road awhile ago. I was running late to where I was going and thought to snag it on the way home, but it was gone.
I think the handle marks have something to do with adjusting the handle for different carpet piles, but not sure.
Now you need the attachment kit for it, you know you do. lol

I didn't even know there was an attachment kit! Do you have a picture of it? Yes the marks on the handles indicate different piles. I don't know what difference it would have made by having the handle shorter or longer, maybe a gimmick?

The Broomvac attachments are not as common as the ones for the hand vac. You might be able to use a hand vac hose with it but it would be pretty short for that. I believe you just disconnect the belt and insert the hose to the fan opening like you would with some hand vacs or Royal uprights, etc.

First off, congrats on the find! These are getting hard to find. If I am correct, yours looks like an early model 702. It has the old-style belt door and old-style bag which is red on the inside and made from the same material as the shake-out 103 bag. It should also have the old “step on” switch rather than the rocker switch.
These are really unique vacuums and actually are decent cleaners for rugs. I like to use mine on the lightweight rugs around my house. Their light weight, high maneuverability, and soft bristles make them ideal for such tasks. Their cleaning ability is about the same as that of a classic Oreck’s. That said, their original paper bags are of very low quality, but I believe you can use Kenmore U bags, which are made of the synthetic HEPA material.
If you ever need a new motor, take one from a three amp Dirt Devil Plus hand vac. Those hand vacs have the exact same motor.

Here are a few pages from the leaflet that you might be interested in.
The little Broom Vac is like having a 1920's good straight suction vacuum with a real revolving brush.
I tend to like all Dirt Devils as they are a great value for their cost.
Please don't take offence, but when they die it is best to toss it unless you yourself can fix it.
I did not know there were 2 types of bags for then nor did I know they made a double row brush and I want to check out what a Cyclone 3 is anf if it it better than other shop vacs.

I added a few more pages from the leaflet.
I had no memory of the Toy Hand Vac that used AA batteries nor the Nozzle Adapter for the Original Hand Vac.
I guess the leaflet is from January 1996.

I had that toy hand vac too as a kid. I recently got another one from Goodwill. There is a little fan in there too just like the real ones.
There was also a toy Deluxe Upright that either ran on C or D batteries I don't remember. Anyway, I had one of those too but right after I got it, I tried to suck up a Cheerio with the hose and ended up breaking the fan. Just after Christmas and no stores had any in stock except only pink ones which I did not want. I've never seen another of those toy uprights. I can't remember much about it though.

Wow, I just looked on eBay for the fun of it and they have several of the dreaded pink toy Dirt Devils and the toy upright and a NIB toy hand vac.
I searched for "Toy Dirt Devil". I really had no idea they existed. I guess we could say the World passed me by.
How cool, the toy hand vac says "Just Like Mom and Dad's".
Back in the early 50's when I was 4 or 5 I had a toy electric shaver and it had a little suction cup you would stick on the wall that was attached by a string to the shaver.
I don't think it had batteries, but I would shave with my dad.
