Broken Dirt Devil Plus Handvac

I bought a green Dirt Devil Plus handvac at a thrift store a couple months back. I brought it home and looked at the brushroll on the bottom and noticed that the spot where the screw screws in on the right side, was cracked. The next day, I took it apart and I also noticed that one of the screw inputs by the motor, was also cracked. What should I do?

You too! My green hand vac had weak plastic. I used hot glue to rebuild the base plate screw holes. I just thought the brush roll might have generated enough heat to weaken the plastic, but of the many hand vacs I have, the green one is the only one to have this problem. Its interesting that your green model also has this issue.

You should try your best to repair it, as its a rarer version.

Yes, I've thought about repairing it but I thought that I would ruin it if I glued the piece back together. I've also noticed that when I turn the handvac on, it sounds like something is inside of the motor that isn't supposed to be inside of the motor.

Gluing it back together should not be too big a problem.

It is possible something got into the motor. If you take the casing apart, you may be able to remove the piece from the inner motor casing without digging in too far. These motors can be taken apart but they can be tricky. One thing to watch out for is the carbon brushes tend to launch themselves across the room when the motor comes apart, so watch for that if you dig into the motor.
