Just noticed on the GHI website (see link) that Braun small appliances are due to return onto the UK market this summer. Never quite understood the reason for their discontinuation in the first place, but it seems P&G has had a change of heart once more.

The lineup will initially consist of four juicers, four hand blenders and six steam irons. Whether any further additions will be forthcoming later on down the line remains to be seen. I guess time will tell what the quality is like after they've been on sale for a while, fingers crossed they will be at least somewhat reminiscent of Braun products of old.

I expect they'll be made in China. My partner has a new Braun shaver and that's Chinese as are the toothbrushes now. I have an older Braun toothbrush that's made in Germany and my very first electric razor was a Braun, also made in Germany.

I won't touch Braun now as they are owned by Proctor & Gamble who are among the many companies that test on animals.

I currently have 3 Philips shavers - an HQ8894 from 2004, a HQ8270 from 2009 and a Powertouch PT920 from 2013 - all made in Holland. I wouldn't touch a Braun if they are all made in China now.

The new stuff will be junk in all likelihood. They used to make some of the nicest designed appliances out there when it was really Braun. I have a fairly good collection of them.

My Mum has a Braun food processor similar to the one pictured but the deluxe version with a stepless variable speed control. It must be knocking on for 30 years old and it still works.

I have my Braun coffee maker

Like the one used on Keeping Up Appearances tucked away, it still works but since here in the states nothing from Braun. They are good appliances at least in my opinion such a shame they stopped. Cheers guys! Mark D.

Senso, my aunt has that same FP also. She hasn't killed it yet, which is saying something considering she gets through three irons a year, and a washing machine every other year. I seem to recall it's the same one Delia used on TV back in the day. Absolutely bulletproof, but I think hoping for the same durability from the new range would be expecting a little too much.

I see the classic design still lives on in the form of the TOL Multiquick kitchen machine, which is available from Amazon in the link below. The temptation to splurge on one is massive, but I'm going to have to resist it seeing as I already have two mixers, a shedload of attachments and a standalone blender.

My late mum had a Multiprac food processor as well - purchased from Woolies back in the day (1980). 2 speeds and pulse, it wasn't a top of the line model but by god it lasted her 30 odd years too. Braun can be good.

Its a great pity that their signature travel alarm clocks are no longer made in Germany either but, rather by Zeon in China. Those are very iconic but very reliable too.
