Hey everyone! I have Eureka Brandywine cordaway upright and wanted to know how long the cord is supposed to be. I know mine has a replacement plug and I think the cord may have been cut short because it's only 12 feet long!!! If anyone knows I'd appreciate it.

That cord reel was made by a company called.....

Cordmatic. They also produced cord reels for the earlier luxes (meaning the XXX, and LX, LXI), as well as the first Hoover Portable with cord reel, before Hoover began to make them in house.

My recommendation, is to just find a real nasty beat up Cordaway, one that is non all original, besides the cord, and as you probably know, the cord reel is a one piece setup, with two set screws. Just then switch the complete cord reel.

Or find a beat up Eureka canister with the appropriate cord, then pry off the black cord reel cover (the one that has the round copper connections), and just insert the new leads, and either sodder, or do what you have to, and rest the black cover. Make certain the leads are not touching eatchother, everything is clean, and re wind the cord in the original direction, and retighten reel....

I hope this gives you some direction. Good luck! A little understanding and practice goes a long way with things like cord reels. No need to be afraid, just use common sense, and have courage...

'Brandywine' Models List

I got curious and wondered how many Brandywine-colored Eureka models there were. Here is a list that I made. Even if it's incomplete, there are quite a few! Please add to it if you can. I know there was a classic-style hood upright with headlight, too, but don't know the model number (guessing it was a Kmart 600 Series). There was also another Wide Track.

Btw, is 'Brandywine' the company's color name or Vacuumlanders'?

Key:
PT - Power Team; D-a-N - Dial-a-Nap; trapezoid (Princess-shape); teardrop (canned ham); trunk (Sweet Sixteen shape)

1. 671 PT
2. 1279 trunk PT 9.5-amps
3. 1289 teardrop PT
4. 1290 trunk PT 11-amps
5. 1452 D-a-N Vanguard-style hood
6. 1443 2-way D-a-N non-headlight classic-style hood
7. 1514 trapezoid PT
8. 1756 trunk PT
9. 1761 Quiet Kleen trunk PT
10. 1770 trunk PT
11. 2087 ESP D-a-N
12. 2097 ESP D-a-N Cordaway
13. 3710 trunk canister
14. 4060 ESP Wide Track Cordaway Box Top
15. 3334 trapezoid canister (?)

That's interesting

because I have a 2087 A Brandywine ESP that only has a 12 ft. cord, not cordaway. I always thought that ESP's were upper tier. Doesn't appear to have had the cord cut. Hmm.

Here’s a video showing the 2087….the presenter says it has a 20-24 foot cord. Yours must have been cut at some point. Is the plug like the one in this video?

eurekaprince,

"On closer inspection" as they say, it looks factory but on the plug there is a diamond shape with PWC printed across the top. Wow 20 and 40 ft.cords were available? I need to go shopping because... thank you for that info! The fact that even this cord has been taped about mid-way adds the possibility that this cord could be grafted also, thanks!
