With it's official launch at the Vacuum Dealer's Trade Association trade show in Los Vegas next Monday, the new Tacony canister vacuum is set to be the star of the show. It all began three years ago, when Management made of list of 'must haves' in a brand new canister vacuum. Many prototypes were designed, tested, and rejected before the current design was approved. The reason for the Museum, in addition to being open to the public, is so Engineering can get an idea of what worked decades ago, and how these ideas have 'stood the test of time'. Many of the ideas in the new Wonder model canister come from tried and true ideas of the past.

I've had a Prototype as my home vacuum cleaner for some time now, but have not been allowed to show it until now.

Presenting a canister vacuum ALL collectors have been asking for ------ The Simplicity Wonder (the Riccar version is called the Prima and is blue).

First: unboxing the suction monster.

The Complete "Premium" Simplicity Wonder with Full Size Power Nozzle (the machine is also available with the Compact Power Nozzle or the Straight Suction attachment set). I know the Power Nozzle says Riccar on it, the Simplicity power nozzle hadn't been made yet and this machine is from the very first production. They will all be shipped with the correct name on the Power Nozzle.

This is a vacuum you should ALL ask your local dealer for.

Tom,
Nice looking machine. What will be it's strong points and what is it geared to compete with on the market?
I ALREADY like the tools better than the baby tools that came with my Miele.

This is exactly how the Museum influences Engineering. By rediscovering the best of the past, they can improve the present. When you think about the deplorable state of current vacuum cleaner 'attachments' (or 'toys' - think Dyson attachments) you'll immediately appreciate the beauty of REAL attachments.

New hose handle. Makes it extremely easy to steer the power nozzle, while being VERY comfortable in your hand to hold. Perfect size and shape. On/Off switch for Power Nozzle motor in handle. It's an illuminated light, so you KNOW which position it's always in.

New Floor Tool. It's called the "Wow" tool. The large brush and suction opening completely cleans the floor first, then the electrostatic pad (removable and washable and reusable) goes over the floor for a final polish. It swivels like a Miele twister tool, but does a FAR better job on heavy debris (like cat litter) scattered on a bare floor. Wonderful attachment - one of my all time favorites.

Showing the fully extended telescopic wand. So easy to reach ceiling fan blades and tops of drapes. The new hose length is 8 1/2 feet (the exact same as an Air-Way model 88). Long hose and long wand mean much LESS pulling and tugging on the cleaner. Clean an entire medium size room from one central position of the canister.

Sorry Tom, I jumped the gun!
I like the looks of the power nozzle roller. Also like "made in usa" sticker.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

Just like a Model G, the new cord winder has a lock that the cord is placed in to prevent accidental rewinding when going too far from the outlet. The great benefit of 'window shade' rewinding is, you are generally across the room when the plug is pulled and the cord retracts. No getting smacked by the flying plug as the cord rewinds.

New plastic bag mount and automatic bag sealing mechanism. Touch No Dirt. Breath No Dirt. See No Dirt. HEPA cartridge filter. Totally SEALED SYSTEM.

When testing of motor life was done on the new model, it ran 1,197 hours before the carbon brushes were shot. That's approximately 23 years of use.

Wow, I totally dig it! Don't much like that particular color. Hope there are other colors. The only things that bug me about Riccar's is that there are no parking places on the machine to store the power nozzle. Their power nozzles also produce a wholly unpleasant sound. They are really loud and sound like a weedeater to me. I hope they have reduced that noise. Other than that, I'd definitely buy it.

Great looking unit

Tom, what is the slot on the back of the vacuum body next to the power cord? To me it looks like a parking slot and the wands look like they have a plastic piece designed to fit in there.
