Brand New Meile Upright!

Brushroll Shot...

I'll get my camera out tomorrow and take one of the brushroll. It appears to be the same brushroll they used in the SEB 236 power head, which I love. (Or were you teasing me...LOL.. I thought I might be overdoing it by posting 13 photos...)

Swivel Action

The swivel action makes it incredibly easy to maneuver around corners, furniture, etc., rather than only being able to vacuum in a straight line, back up and realign the vacuum in a new direction, as you have to do with most other uprights. It's amazing what a big difference the feature makes in ease of vacuuming.

Yes it really is a fabulous new machine isn't it -- "retro-futuristic" looking, a definite nod to 1930s uprights. I especially like the metallic-finish one. Would love to have one but it's not in the budget at present. Glad you're happy with it! :)

WOW!

I want one- NOW!!!

Will give Miele a call today and see if they have a release date over here yet- getting kinda impatient lol!

Miele

Hi Mike

Lovely machine, dont worry about too many pics, that`l never be the case here!!!

How is it for noise compared to your cylinder with power nozzle running??

Whats the weight like compared to the sebo??

would love to see the guts n gubbins of it, is it twin motors, also is it automatic height adjust?? i can see the vario speed etc

Enjoy, Mike

Hey Mike,

I need to do a noise comparison test, but it seems to produce about the same level of noise as my Capricorn. It's heavier than the SEBO upright (at least from what I recall when I tried the SEBO). It seems more comparable to the Riccar Radiance in weight and feel, i.e., it feels very solid.

I'll try and take more photos in the next few days of the brushroll and guts. To access the dust bag, you pull the silver lever on the front. I really like the fact that the front cover is hinged, i.e., you don't need to pull it off completely, it simply falls forward enough to replace the dust bag. It's very similar in feel to the canister lid. And, in many respects, this upright feels like a Miele canister. Ron explained that Miele's goal was to incorporate as many of the canister's features/pluses as possible. At first blush, it seems they've succeeded.

To access the HEPA filter, you lift the grill on the front. It's also hinged. The filter is easy to install and take out. And, it fits snugly in place. Just as you'd expect on a Miele.

And, yes it has twin motors. It has a Vortex suction motor and the brushroll motor can be turned off to vacuum bare floors. Fab. It also has automatic height adjustment (unless I've missed something. No, I haven't cracked the owner's manual yet.).

An anecdotal note: This vacuum is so new that Miele hasn't even branded its dust bag packaging yet. You can tell it's a Miele box, because it's the same style as the box in which Miele packages the F/J/M Intensive Clean Plus Dustbags, but it's white without the Miele branding. How cool is that?!?

Here's a parting shot with the Miele Antares I got from Andy W. Thanks again Andy. It's reminiscent of the Hoover collections where they used the same color palette. I love it.

Great first review, Mike. All the best Miele features in a gorgeous sculptured shape. Yes, we want more pictures, like with the bag compartment open. Man, I'll want one of these, too.

That swivel action is so much better realized than that Dyson Ball contraption. :-)

Just saw the Miele Rep...

Hey Mike/All

It was due over here this month but its now gonna be October.

Apparently its 100% German (mind you this is from a rep that wasnt aware(Allegedly!!!) the S380 was made in China.

Of the 5 models we are getting only the top 2 have the LED headlight(although from the brochure it looks like they all should have).

The bags are 6L and will be of the new HY- Clean material(25% better filtration/capacity than the Intensive Clean versions.

Mike, I felt so honored last night to be part of your unveiling of your new Miele!! I even got to hear it run when Mike turned it on for the first time. That is such a beautiful machine! I think one of the neatest things is the way the head pivots. Sometime check and tell us how long the hose is. It appears that it must be rather long from the picture of the woman cleanig the stairs. I am so happy for you that you were able to get this machine. You know we all want to see more pictures silly boy!!!! Terry

Oh my. what an amazing piece of equipment. I can't wait to get my hands on one of those. Anyone know a UK release date yet? Mike, are you generally pleased with the machine and would you use one as a daily driver? I am so getting one of those when they come out over here

Wow Mike, I am so glad to hear your remarks on this. I know Ron will be pleased as well. He's really a great guy and I was happy to do this little bit of "P.R." for him. Especially happy that it's turned out so well.

A reminder to those who now must have one, they are still available from Boulevard Vacuum -- 323-938-2661, ask for Ron. But they're not going to last because the quantity IS very limited, so ...

"DON'T DELAY! CALL TODAY!!"
