Rug Rat

The best hand held turbo brush that I've used/owned is the Rug Rat. It works better than the powered brushes like the Electrolux Sidekick, especially when its hooked up to my Tristar.

The Connie turbo floor tool is just passable, but barely just. It does bog down a little but keeps going. Electrics the only way in my book unless it's one of those real vintage metal ones like Dave shows above, now those are amazing.

1960s roto-power-brush

has anyone seen a hoover roto power brush (NOT the windtunnel style turbo brush currently available) I think its a turbo brush that was sold with the Dial-A-Matic vacs. It says PKG# 161728 not sure if its mdl#? If anyone has one let me know b/c I've been looking 4 one after all those yrs

Brand new Compacts on Ebay

Erik,
My mother's Hoover Dail-A-Matic came with a Roto-Brush as a gift. I had completely forgotten about the tool. It was not white but tanish color to match the attachments. The brushes were more like the bristles on a hairbrush and quickly matted and were impossible to clean out. It was packaged just like your picture.
It is hard to imagine now but when the Powerdrive Dail-A-Matic first came out it was a big deal at our local appliance store and featured on it's own display. Because it was a lot more money they gave the Roto-brush as a gift. She never used the tools for the Hoover. Thanks for the picture.

how much 4 the Roto-brush? Is there a aqua Turbinette 4 the 23rd Anniv. Compact? Due 2 the Economic Crisis we have 2 face I'd rather have them cheap instead of paying high prices on the Turbinette & Roto-Power brush

VAX w/Hoover WT brush

did U check filter(s) & brush turbines? They might be clogged with dirt, hair etc. OR U might not have bag or dust bin installed correctly; maybe even a leak on the hose. I have the WT turbo brush & haven't had any problems with any of them yet; I even clean out the turbine & brush roller after each use although cat hair can clog it easily.

HOSE

On the vax the hose works fine and has good suction. But put on the turbo thing, and well, thats all lost. The turbo brush cant be put down or it stops.

Even when I put it on the kirby. It stops. It just does not work well. And its like new so it has no excuse.

Vax doesnt have Hoover brush they have their own brush; & I use the Hoover brush on my Rigid vac & has nice 'sonic' spin so I have a CLEAN car interior. Is your Vax the wet/dry shop vac like what we had yrs back or is it the new upright?

If the turbo brush just stops that easily, especially on a Kirby, check for a broken casting, a missing seal, or stuck/goopy bearings on the turbine assembly. Check the brushroll bearings too. That sucker should SCREAM on a Kirby. Much more than on that Vax. When i say scream.....I mean SCREAM.

like new

I have actually never used it ever because of that.

It flies on each vacuum more on the vax though, It has more power than the kirby. But it just stops when it touches something.

I've just tried that same brush on my Dyson DC07 Origin (the brush came with my Vax Mach7/Hoover Windtunnel +Cyclonic). It won't attach directly to the hose-end, but you can put it on the wand with no trouble. It goes at lightspeed, and the sound it makes is incredibly shrill! You can actually push it down into the carpet, and it still turns.

When rigidvac first posted the picture of the blue turbonozzle, you said 'My vax has that one above (the blue one)'

So you see where the confusion comes in?

Confusion....

Now you know where my own confused post came from in another one of Brandon's posts! Like I said before.....2+2=7 here....

Same as the confusion on the Dyson thread when you said you sold your Dyson at the beginning and then later in the same thread you said your brother smashed it with golf clubs

What gives. Start getting unconfused quick nobodies goint to pay much attention to your ramblings and stories

I have to document my experience also...

**********I really hate to even type this out, but I just can't keep this to myself any longer. I'm not the only one who is seeing some serious inconstancies**********

Brandon,

I just can't hold it in any longer. Your stories don't match up, and that's why I stopped talking to you. On Thread # 5873 (4/9/09), you noted "I had the vax, I sold it in hopes of getting a tristar, but that guy backed out of the deal as well.". Then on thread # 5693 (4/9/09), you noted "Nope
Wrong brush. I have the vax X5. Its a different brush."
So first you sold it, then you still have it when you refer to the brush it has. When I offered to polish your Kirby for you, free, I thought hey, you're still in school, don't drive, you're 15, don't have a job yet, so I was trying to be nice. You then mentioned the Kirby was your only vacuum cleaner, so I offered you my Hoover Fusion, a loaner while I worked on yours. You responded by asking for something more high end or vintage, which kind of ticked me off. When someone offers to polish your Kirby for free (and this is a LOT of work, very messy, time consuming), you should not be picky about a loaner. That's just how I was raised anyway... What totally topped it off, the next day after I had offered you the loaner, I saw in Thread # 5815 (4/2/09), you posted a picture of your VAX vs Kirby. Wait, I thought you didn't have any other cleaners to use? I never responded to you after the morning of 4/2 after I saw that. I'm not trying to be mean, but your stories really don't add up, and I honestly believe you might have a problem telling the truth.

This is a great place to discuss vacuums and make friends, and I really see no need to make up stories. Try and focus on facts and you don't need to make up stories to impress anyone or fit in. Some have bigger collections of vacuums than others, but nobody would judge you because of how many you do or don't have.

I sold the thing weeks ago

Honestly, vacfanatic. I am not lying. Really. When I made that test, the vax was already up on craigslist for weeks. That is why I said the kirby was my only vacuum because this lady was supposed to come get it any time. So I never used it because I was unsure of when she was coming, which turned out to be 2 days later.

I sold the thing right after I made that demo thread.

Sorry if I upset people. I never lied about anything. Honest to god. Nothing have I ever posted (maybe some a small lie popped up- to protect whatever I was saying- dont know where though) Was meant to be mean or insulting or a lie. Never.

Brandon.....

You have to understand that once you lose peoples' trust, it's HARD to earn it back. The stories that don't add up, the whole "I'm getting a vacuum" that never happens, etc that keeps being posted almost daily from you has lot you a LOT of credibility.

Pestering everyone who posts something about a vac you want if they'll sell it to you isn't helping matters much either...

Part of my problem

Is my parents only allow 2 vacuums in my house. So I find a deal, they say yes. Then turn around and say -- no wait for another vacuum to come to you.

I have gone through 2 kirbys- one costing $60 the other costing $250. (one was a gift- one was for a trade for ps2 and games)
A Hoover 800- costing us nearly $140
And having to pass up 40 different vacuums after I sell something because they dont like it.

My 800 sold for $40. Because I was supposed to get a stupid rainbow E. But the dumb lady said, oh wait I dont want to sell it. Even after we agreed on a time and place to meet up for me to take it. She got a nasty email for that too.

So I lose $300 and gain nothing but a Kirby 518 for $120.
