Bought a 'new' to me Royal upright vacuum cleaner.

I recently bought a Royal 2025 vacuum cleaner. I wanted to know other peoples thoughts on this vacuum. Its in excellent condition and I got it at a good price according to my local vacuum dealer. I would like to have another one; which Royal is the most ideal to have? Also where can I find attachments for this vacuum to match it? It did not include any attachments.

You've made an excellent choice in cleaner, one of which will stand the test of time (And then some!).


Royal did supply attachment kits for their cleaners, but they're a pain to install due to the fact that you have to remove and than re-install the belt in order for use. Ben Edge is our resident Royal guru, He will be able to tell you just about anything on this cleaner, from model #'s, manufacture dates, part #'s, etc!


 


I just ran my 70s 880 today after a long period of closet-sitting. what an excellent job this cleaner performs on only 3.0 amps/ I have a Royal exactally like yours in one of these piles of vacuums....(Oh dear, they're staring to pile up?)

I heard that the attachments are a pain at times because of removing the belt. I also have an 80's model Rainbow. I figure I just use the rainbow for the attachment stuff. I paid $160 for the Royal 2025.

I also recently added that very same model to my collection. It makes my fourth Royal metal upright. First of all, FANTASTIC machine, as are all Royal Metals. In as much as Kirby has become my religion, I think theres nothing a Kirby can do that a Royal can't do just as well. As for the attachments, That may be a difficult find. I recently asked the owner of my local vac shop (who is a factory authorized Royal dealer) to look into ordering me a set. No luck. According to his research, they are no longer available. Keep on searching though, I am.

The attachment kit was part no. 304 (plastic tools) or M305G (deluxe metal tools).

Nothing a Kirby can do that a Royal can't do better?

Polish Silverware, Sharpen knives, Build a bird house, drill/saw/sand wood, shampoo carpeting, fluff carpet fibers, polish floors, wax floors, scrub floors.....the list goes on and on! Can your Royal do That?


 


No offense to the slightly less capable Royal, they're a great brand in my opinion.


Can't a royal de-moth closets, too? does it not have a crystallization function?


 


$160 is not very bad for a machine that will serve you until the end of time, well done! Do you know if the Carbon brushes were replaced? I'm going to say they have considering the polishing marks this as a re-furbished machine.

I don't know if the carbon brushes have been replaced. The seller told me that the vacuum was at the vacuum shop to be cleaned and tested before she sold it to me. I am guessing that is why it has been polised. Still waiting for it to arrive to my door step.

To Super-Sweeper: How does the Kirby "scrub floors"? I have one of every model Kirby they've ever made, and none of mine scrub the floors. Just curious? Do I pour Lysol on the floor and use the polishing brush? Where does it suck up the scrubbing solution into? I once spilled a Diet Coke on my living room rug, and used my Kirby shampooer on it. Spread the Diet Coke out several feet from where it was, but it didn't suck any of it up.

Hey; my Royal 2025 finally arrived today! I tried it out as soon as I took it out of the box and all I can say is wow!! It does an amazing job. The two question's I have is what maintance is required on these things and the light on this vacuum flikers a little bit..maybe a loose conection?

The Kirby has to have the attachments to do the "other" things.You can put demoth crystals in the compartment above the Royal upright floor nozzle for demothing-may not work as good as the Kirby "Crystalator" but can get by.You use the hose in place of the bag to blow the demother fumes into whatever you are demothing-as long as any vacuum can be used as a blower with the hose and a place for the moth crystals-it can demoth.I have seen the Kirby Classic do polishing and cutting with a jigsaw attachment on the Handi Butler.Have the jigsaw and associated Handi Butler and flex shaft.The jigsaw isn't heavy duty-but can still do the job.So,the Royal isn't entirely helpless.

Remember seeing one of those giant Wenger tools at Potomac Cutlery several years ago.
I do like the Royals SIMPLICITY-no cumbersome on board hoses or tools-just vacuums your floor really well!!!

Hey, I'm just kidding about the Kirby. My first memory of any vacuum at all, was a Kirby. My dad sold them for a short period, and we had at least two, maybe three in the house through the 60's and 70's... with all the normal attachments.

Justin, take that bulb to your local hardware store. $1.50 at my local hardware, or $2.99 at Vac Parts Plus.

Scrub Floors!

That's a recent addition to the Kirby renovation system, compatible with models Generation 3+. You place this new brush in place of the renovation head's shampooing brush, with this "sponge" to "Collect" water. while good for scrubbing, I could not imagine lugging that giant Generation series machine across the floors! I have my Penncrest (A.K.A HOOVER!) for all my floor scrubbing needs!


 


Still, good to see a new attachment since, what? the Zipp Brush or Turbo Sander?


 


Tolivac-  I didn't mention the Demothing feature due to exactly that, I knew someone would write me about the Crystalator!
