bissell pro heat

Can anyone give some guidance on considering this Bissell pro heat , at an estate sale, for cleaning my carpets? Was it any good even new? I know there is a newer one, of course, at $230-280 but I am not in the market for that amount. I can't determine how old this is....i recall there was a '2x pro heat' model as well....that may be this one's replacement.

Mid-2000s probably

Those aren't too bad actually. It's not going to be as powerful as a commercial truck mount but the ones I've owned do legitimately clean and refresh carpets. If you can get it at a good price and it works I would grab it. My advice is pre-spraying the carpet usually helps a lot. Capture sells one at Home Depot that works well.

Possibly worth buying

The black models were extremely common. All pro heats in that style are pretty much the same They came out in 1999 believe it or not. The pro heat 2x was indeed the upgraded version of this. I have a pro heat model that is the same thing, and they actually clean carpets pretty good. I once used it to clean someone’s whole house. A lot of times people will use these for not too long and later sell them. The nozzle isn’t cracked on both sides. Overall, the machine looks clean. It probably just needs a belt for the pump. If the price isn’t too high, I would buy it. The only issue with these pro heats are that the heater can get clogged up if you don’t do a rinse, and the suction isn’t the strongest.

They weren't all that bad machines, personally I prefer the ones that don't have the heater so basically I like the PowerSteamers more. Mainly because the heaters were an extra part that can break and from experience they weren't easy to work on.
