I don't want to cause any trouble but America seems to have quite an attitude of Chinese made products. I've noticed this on other forums I'm on which have nowt to do with household appliances. I do agree that whilst the country themselves do themselves no favours with their past communist laws and general life, there is more good to China than people actually realise. However no country is perfect where anything is made these days...in my opinion.

I'm guessing Bissell needs to make their own products and stop outsourcing other companies.

If it is cheaper to outsource with other brands, then there's no point unless the said brand actually have a more involved design process. You'd never find Miele for example giving over their design to other brands. Bissell aren't exactly the first name in dry cleaning floor care. They propose that they were the first to make carpet sweepers but they're not upright vacs. In my mind Bissell is more known for its shampooer and wash vacuums, let alone the Chinese brand upright washers.
