Bissell Lift-Off Deep Cleaner hose problem

I want to address an issue I just found on my Bissell Lift-Off Deep Cleaner.

I was doing some spot cleaning today, cleaning up after one of my dogs that got sick. Partway through cleaning, my hand got wet. I took a closer look at the hose, and I found some holes in the hose near the grip end!

We've had this machine since early 2012, so it is out of its 2 year warranty. Does anybody have any ideas on how to replace the hose? It looks really complicated to remove.

If not, should I just tape the hose? Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Try unscrewing the hose from the hand-held cleaning nozzle. Beware it may have left hand threads and will unscrew from the opposite direction.


I have a Hoover WindTunnel Air and this is how the hose is disconnected from the air intake that connects to the dirt holding bin. It just unscrews.

I couldn't do that

The hose can't be unscrewed from the grip. Guess I'll just have to tape up the holes...

Put a shopvac hose on that puppy remoove that strech hose that doesn't strech and put a shop vac 1-1/4 inch hose take both end off attach one end to the vacuum and the other to the handle and voila i di the same thing to my bissel clean view bag less plus and man a what a difference

I don't think that'll work

Being a carpet cleaner, my Bissell needs a special hose to sprays the cleaning solution and suck it back up. That hose is permanently attached. It looks really complicated to remove.

As I've stated before, I'll probably just tape the holes shut.

A replacement hose costs around $42 online! Plus, it looks really complicated to install.

If this was mine, I would just duct tape it. It might look ugly, but it's not leaking, and a roll of duct tape, is $3 which is much cheaper than a replacement hose.

To replace the hose, you have to remove the two housings that wrap around the machine. The hose rack has a sticker, heat it up with a hair dryer and it will peel off. There are 4 or 5 screws under that sticker. Once the two halves are removed, remove the vacuum stack two screws, and it will pull off. There are then 4 screws that hold the top housing to the lower. Once those are removed, it will separate and you will see where the vac hose hooks on and where the separate water line attaches. It is not as hard as it sounds.
