Bissell, hoover elite look alike

My aunt gave me this bissell years ago, just this week I finally got it into the state that it could finally work, when I turned it on it worked but smelled like it was burning. I think it needs a new motor but I don't know where they sell motors or even bags for these vacs. Should I keep this or just toss it? Any info would be appreciated.

I had one similar to that model, only red with the Singer name on it. Somewhere along the way Singer and Bissell must've done some cross badging or maybe Bissell bought out Singer? Someone on here would probably know.

Fortunately. I'd say keep the thing. When Hoover launched the all-new Elite line, Everyone and their Aunt Martha bought one, the new styling was insanely popular. Even my family bought one years back, It's box should still be in the attic somewhere.


Anyhow, Manufacturers scrambled to make their own version of Hoover's success story. Eureka launched the Bravo, Powerline, and more. Singer launched the PowerAMP, Kenmore the PowerCenter, Dirt-Devil the Lite, and White-Westinghouse the V.I.P, along with other brands. Bissell threw themselves into the vacuums market by buying out Singer, using their designs.


 


You're bound to find a parts machine if you can't get this one's motor running. Hold on to it!

I have the wide track model of that machine and after exhaustive searching I found a NOS motor for it. So yes a few vac suppliers still have motors. I ordered it from usavacuum.com part number HB14103.

KEEP IT! Those early Bissells are SO HARD to find in that good of shape. So jealous, I loooove those machines.

a friend had one like that, I think it was black? in her retail store, in gift wrap! she seemed to think it was a shop vac, had to dig a lot of ribbon out of it, but it swallowed tons of paper and popcorn packing, kept right on going for years
