Bissell Carpet Machine

I found a Bissell Carpet cleaner last summer in my grandmother's shed and I have been wanting to restore it. It is basically a shop-vac, and if I were to use it, I would use it as such. Due to the age of the machine, many of its parts have been discontinued. Does anybody have any idea where to look for parts? I would like to replace the motor (hopefully with one more powerful), all its gaskets should be replaced, and it needs a new power cord.

I am not aware where there are gaskets on that machine that would need replacing. And to replace the motor in one of those just to use it as a shop vac is definitely near pointless, unless you like aimless projects full of money spending. If the motor works, stick a cord and filter on it and put it to use.

The gaskets are what holds the motor in. There's one around the fan's inlet, and another above the fan housing. They serve to keep keep the working and cooling airflow separate from each other, and to absorb some of the motor's vibration. There's also one around the tank rim. I honestly have no idea if the motor works or not. The machine had rodents living in it, so I wanted to clean it out before I blew a bunch of rat feces around my mother's back porch. I took the thing apart, and never got the chance to get it back together before I had to leave for school in the fall. Here's a link to a picture of the machine:

It's a vintage Bissell. Made back when Bissell was making awesome products.

Oh, that's a very early one. I thought you were talking about the later Big Green version that was more recently seen under the Rubbermaid name.
