Bison on eBay!

I'd almost bite at the price... but then I saw the $100 shipping charge. Not going to happen. Another trend on eBay... ridiculous shipping charges on a realistically priced item. Saw a nice Electrolux L a few weeks back, BIN at a high but not ridiculous number.... and $88 economy shipping. For that, I could send it 2 day air and still make a profit, and overnight to anywhere in the continental US. And nobody else is buying either... I see most of those relisted over and over again, until they get real with the $$.

So I sent the seller an e-mail. My sister lives not far from him and inquired if he'd allow for local pick up and eliminate the shipping charge. We shall see what, if any, answer I receive.

I agree.....

The price on the machine is about what I paid for my Bison, with the only difference being, mine didn't need any work. All of the things wrong with it, especially the broken impeller was enough to scare me away alone, THEN I saw the wild shipping price.....that definitely was the deal killer there! I could just about have a CAR shipped to me for that! But I still wanted to share it in case someone lived close and the seller was willing to allow local pickup, such as the case of Gr8DaneDad asking if his sister could pick it up. Although parts will be nearly impossible to come by, I really do hope a member, or someone who will appreciate it for what it is, will end up with it!

Since it is somewhat a kirby you would think one of the fans will fit it. I'm thinking a fan kit before the G's would fit since it's the same guy (Keeler) that has the bagless Kirby containers from what was mentioned in another thread on here.

Thing is there are plenty Mom & Pop vacuum cleaner stores that have items like the Bison's impeller. I encourage Vacuumlanders to check in their neck of the woods for such stores and let them know of your interest before they discard the products during cleaning or close their shops. About a month ago I was fortunate to get to one store in my area just in the nick of time before the owner purged his shelves of old Electrolux parts including PN cords, Model XXX switches and air filters, and attachments. The owner GAVE me the parts, because he was just going to toss them anyway.

For posterity (for future readers of this thread after the eBay listing has expired) I am including the listing and one of the photos of the Bison cleaner which is the focus of this thread:

(BISON CENTURION, MODEL 1000, 6.5 AMPS, 60 Hz, 120 VOLTS)

"This machine has many attachments as you can see by the pictures, to include the carpet cleaner (needs rubber band). The motor works perfectly as it should with the variable speeds. The plastic motor impeller that forces dirt/air into the bag is missing due to it being damaged. The top cord holder is broken, but the piece is included. A couple bolt heads were grinded to accept a flat head screwdriver (see pic) due to the phillips head stripping out. I am by no means a vacuum guy, so ask any questions on what I may have missed. Thank you."
