Best Central Vacuum Power Team/Power Head

Hello all!!!

Recently I have decided to install a central vacuum system into my new home! I already have the unit and the plumbing all done and installed. I just need a power team for my system! can anyone give me a few units that they would strongly recommend, and maybe not recommend? I am currently looking at the beam Q, and it seems like a very good system ! Any responses would help!

I absolutely LOVE my Vacuflo Edge Powerhead kit! It's a white Wessel Werk 360 with a headlight. It comes with a separate telescopic wand to keep the twist & turn floor brush attached. It screams quality and does a wonderful job on all of our various rugs and carpets. It's a little heavier than my parents old central vac head but not a deal breaker whatsoever. It steers beautifully and really lifts the nap. It's pricey but I would buy another tomorrow if it broke.


Over the course of 30 years my parents have gone through several powerheads and none of them hold a candle to the Wessel Werk. They had a Nutone "Eureka Rotomatic" clone, a Eureka Express powerhead, a Hoover Quadraflex Powermatic and a Centec whisperbelt style head. The WW beats them all.

Forgot to add that I believe my parents system is still using the whisperbelt nozzle but they primarily use their Riccar Supralite or Dyson DC65.

Scott is right and I heartily agree with him that a Wessel Werk PN is the best there is! Just make sure you mate it with a 1 3/8" diameter hose! It's the best combination there is!

some power nozzle suggestions

Here are the power nozzles I would suggest, these are in no particular order, you will do well with any of these.
The Wessel-Werk nozzles are very good, they make the ebk340 and the ebk360, they are both good nozzles but I think the ebk360 is better, it has height adjustment and uses leds for the headlight. The ebk340 is also a good nozzle but does not have height adjustment, the headlight is optional and uses a fluorescent lamp for the headlight model.
Lindhaus also makes a very good power nozzle. I would suggest the PB14 pro model, this one uses metal instead of plastic parts and the roller is much easier to change.
Another excellent power nozzle is made by Sebo, they make a 12 inch and a 14 inch version and they also sell an adapter so you can use it with central vacuums. These nozzles are very good quality and you can change the roller without any tools, I would say the Sebo nozzles are as good as Wessel-Werk if not better.
Tacony also makes a very good central vacuum power nozzle under the Riccar and Simplicity brands, it has a very good metal brush roll.
To use any of these nozzles, you will need a central vacuum electric hose, do you already have this? Let me know if you need me to send you any links to any of these nozzles.

What about the beam q? It seems like a nice unit and grooms very well?!

I used a Beam Q for several years in a second home, and have repaired enough of them to have reached a conclusion...

In my opinion, there are much better power heads for the money. It cleans well, but has some very weak points in the design (handle release, swivel neck, telescopic wand, hose handle) causing failures that competing products don't seem to have. And they are a PAIN to take apart and work on.

Wessel-Werk makes some very high quality brushes that clean beautifully. My ultimate favorite is the Stealth, made by Lindhaus. It digs into plush carpet a little less aggressively than the Wessel heads, but cleans very effectively and still leaves beautiful lines on the carpet. It's also much easier to take apart (not that you would need to) than the Wessel-Werk and the larger diameter brushroll resists wrapping with hair.

SEBO makes the ET-1 and ET-2 (12" and 15" respectively) which are very good quality and nearly bulletproof also, but the smaller diameter brushroll wraps up with long hair more readily and doesn't seem to groom as well...I have heard that this is due to a lower brushroll RPM than others.

beam Q

I would avoid the beam Q, the quality is not as good and the hose end is nonstandard from the rest of the central vacuum industry. Because of this, if you decided that you wanted to get a different power nozzle later, you would need to replace the hose as well. Save yourself the trouble and go with something that is industry standard from the start.

The Wessel Werk 360 is the best value power nozzle out there right now !


The Lindhaus stealth is a good choice as well .

Do you think that the ebk 360 May be too powerful and rough for more delicate carpets?

too ruff for carpets

I doubt the power nozzle would be too ruff for carpets, it has 5 different height settings so you can raise the nozzle if you find that it's too agressive.

Go for the Lindhaus Stealth or EBK360. You won't be dissappointed!
