Wow! Wish I knew where Hinckley is!!!! That is one nice Empress canister - the best set of attachments Eureka ever provided! And in such great shape with the original box....and the asking price is unbelievably cheap!...... *drool* :-)

That's Hinckley, Ohio

I believe i bought a vacuum from the seller years ago, she is a good ebayer. That model of Eureka has insanely powerful suction!

Hinckley

Is within spittin' distance from me, but I have a feeling that machine is going to go high.  Thank goodness I have one on loan from the Voight collection.  Here are some shots.

Man that is beautiful I am just wondering did those vibra vac attachments ever really work or were they just loud just wondering I have never used one? Zach

Those vibrabeat nozzles were VERY loud and not very effective at all.  I think the plain suction nozzle was far better at actually cleaning carpeting.  After vacuuming a whole house with the vibrabeat your arms would be like jello from the vibrations.  But, they were still a unique idea and kind of fun!

Ya that's what I thought they dot look very efficient I don't even really know exactily how they work. How exactly do they work? Zach

How does a vibra beat work?

It's the same principle as a brass player's lips vibrating while blowing into the instrument.   As the vacuum's suction pulls air between the rubber strips in the nozzle they buzz and vibrate.  It's a nice theory but in reality if the rug is any heavier/thicker than a dish towel the vibration isn't enough to loosen embedded dirt.

Indeed

Those Vibra-Beat nozzles were not very effective.  But for us vacuum folks, much fun.  Noisy as heck.  Have fond memories of using one as a kid at a neighbors.  There is a funny story about a member using a Vibra-Beat in a cleaning contest at a convention.  Got totally clogged.  That issue aside, this is one of my favorite Eurekas.  Beautiful and well made.  Came with a regular rug nozzle as well.

Its such a shame that Eureka who was such a high quality vacuum, had such beauty in design, if it weren't for all the collectors on VCCC would be nothing but a memory. Thank you to those who carry on these works of art for all to see and admire!
