Hi Folks - I'm continuing to dig through my archives to help celebrate Hoover's 100th. Here's a few pages from a beautiful brochure, circa 1929. This is one of my most prized possessions. The cover:

and the beautiful back cover...

Take note, BUFFSTER...Hale Bros was the prior occupant of The Emporium building at 835 Market Street. I think it is now empty (so sad) :

John, that IS a fabulous brochure. The very epitome of Art Deco styling! Stan Kann also has a copy and I borrowed his once to make a color copy of it.

Thanks for sharing!!

John,

So good to hear from you! Thanks for the great scans - your paper collection is phenomenal.

You, and the others here who have ailing loved ones, are on my mind and I pray for healing. I would love to visit with you again - it has been a long time since Portland!

John, one suggestion if I may -- after you scan smaller items, open them in whatever photo editing program you have and "crop" the excess white area around the sides. That will make the images MUCH smaller and upload/download MUCH faster.

So Charles and the two Johns will I be meeting you at the convention?
BTW: John Y. Did you get the eMail I sent you a few weeks ago?

Hey all

Charles - Thanks for the tip. John - it's been too long. The pictures of you and your family I saw are amazing - they are growing up! If you come to the Southwest, let me know. Vintageroyal611 - unfortunately, I can't go to the convention. Please take lots of pics so we can all live vicariously through you. John L.

Thanks so much for posting this!

I don't suppose there's an illustration of Model 972, is there? If so I'd love to see it!

It's interesting to see the Hygienisac is coloured black in the illustrations - I've only ever seen them in a light colour, with black printing on them.

Sorry, Jack...

No 972 in this brochure, unfortunately. I would love to see it, too. As to the Hygienisac, I have NEVER seen a light-colored one, unless you mean the later ones they made for the Model 60 (US), which they re-named Handisac. These Hygienisacs were actually pretty heavy felt paper.

Light hygienisac...

...I may have been mistaken; I always thought the hygienisac pictured below was light-coloured, but looking at it again having seen the illustration you provided, I think I was wrong! It just doesn't look very dark compared to the furniture guard, or the woman's hair, for instance.

Does anyone out there have any of these original hygienisacs? I know they must be like gold-dust, but I can't believe none survived, given the amount of rare cleaners and fittings club members have unearthed over the years!
