I came across this eBay listing and wondered what kind of suction device barbers use and if anyone in Vacuumland has a collection and/or knowledge of the machines.
Great pictures.I remember seeing some years ago that seem to have used a plastic jar to catch most hair.I have a square box type with motor in it that come from a local shop when the barber died at 95.My best one is a large late 50s Eureka Rotomatic canister labeled for Wahl barber supply with a chrome pipe going straight up from the hose connection with a tray half way up to hold clippers that connect to flexible hoses. Both should be on EBay sooner or later.
Still has one in the form of a square duct along the ceiling, with hoses connected at black mounts, push-in or locking, likely locking. I've never seen it in use, unfortunately.
Any clue as to what the vacuum unit is? Any way you could get some pics and possibly even of the vacuum machine itself? This sounds like a very interesting thing to me.
This made me think, a modern barber shop or hair salon or whatever could really use a central vac, with a vac pan at every station to sweep everything into and one of these hose things as well to clean up and with a dust brush or something vacuum hair off the person too.
