Bagged vs Bagless Vacuum - Fine Dust Test

Here is a video I did today, trying to compare how easily a bagged vacuum (turbopower 2) looses suction, as James Dyson Claimed at the time "the very first dust that goes into the bag blocks the airflow and if you block the airflow, you block the suction and you won't pick up stuff off the floor"
I used 100 grams of flour for the Dyson and for the Hoover, the Hoovers bag was a 1/4 full, so we will see what happens.

Which? Magazine said at the time, that the Dyson DC01 picked up a consistent amount of dirt each time it was tested (empty, half-full, whatever).

They also said that the bagged cleaners picked up more when their bags were empty.

Hoover at the time was pushing select Purepowers with packets of dustbags. I had a see-through dark blue 1500 Watt model with light blue trim. I think the spare bags were by redemption form, and came by post from Hoover.

I still prefer paper bag machines for hygienic disposal of dust.

I read James Dyson's autobiography recently & he mentioned many times how bagged loses suction after it's first use. That old Hoover Junior still being able to lift the carpet after sucking up all that flour pretty much says it all !

I am glad you liked them, now If you picked up a full dyson bin of flour I wouldn't say the Junior would still be able to lift that carpet after that, but James Dysons Claims that when you vacuum one room you loose 50% of the suction because the bag had clogged, I am sorry but that is complete bollocks!!

He just mainly used the "No loss of suction" slogan for marketing and to sell his product.

Simple fact is, Hoover is better! Well, of course they are, who else would be ?

That's true Ryan, though I don't see modern Hoovers as REAL Hoovers so when I say "Hoover", I mean a REAL Hoover, not a Chinese piece of dust.
