Bagged Swivel Uprights?

Exactly madaboutsebo. I got a Sebo X1 several years ago, probably about 1995 and that is what sold me on them. Had that machine along side several other bagged and bagless purchases through the years and none of them could touch the sebo for performance or refinement. I still have it today but have retired it as a spare and for doing outside work. I must take a picture and upload it. Being nearly 20 years old I have not replaced a single part. Nothing has broken off or worn out, not even the carbon brushes. I strip it down once every year or so, clean it right through, and I mean right through. I take the motors out, spray everything with WD40 and rinse everything including the motors which cleans the barings of any grits or dust (even though not much gets to the motor). Sounds scary but it must have done something because it still runs today absolutely 100%. The felix is like an evolution of it I guess. I love them both.

Side note here, why is Dan so hostile? I hate to point fingers but I have read a few of his posts and you come across as quite snobby to be honest and why you have a profile picture along side you Mercedes god only knows. Sebo's are amazing and Hoovers quite frankly, ones built within the last 10 years are POS.

To be specific, the SEBO X1 Automatic got a best buy in 1993 from Which magazine (see the scans I put on at http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?21640) and also in 1996

It annoys me though that the SEBO K1 cylinder vac has never been recognised by Which. It was tested in 2007 but they didn't award it a best buy.

The K and C series have been tested by Which but they have never been recognised. The D series in 2010 got a Best Buy from Which, which of course was nice to see.

There are alternatives if you can compromise over the domestic version of the SEBO FELIX. The commercial units sold by Windsor (under the previous name Flexamatic and now Axxcess) have fixed suction and a fixed non-height adjustable handle. They also have a non-stop brush roll built in.

Karcher in the U.S also sell the commercial version of the Felix under the CV300 with bigger foot versions also available.

I know what you mean oliveoiltinfoil, having took the plunge to buy a SEBO having used bagless for over 12 years I did question myself at first especially using it against my bagless machines. I nearly brought the X4 at the time but having hard floors in 2 rooms when I lived in my flat the Felix seemed more versatile although now I know more about the Brand I could have had the X4! I questioned why I would want to use a bagged machine again! At first I didn't use it much then started to use it more and more and started to appreciate its performance, ease of use, quality build and simple but effective design. That's when I was sold so to speak. I'd love to get a version of the X series at some point. I've thought about retiring my Felix Classic and getting one if the updated versions as the hoses on them are slightly longer and more flexible and stretchy compare to my Classic version. Mine you it's still got plenty of life left in it.

Shame the UK market doesn't offer more quality bagged machines as an alternative to bagless. Unfortunately the UK is still bagless mad and I don't think that will ever change that much. Unless this new EU law shakes things up a bit! But them the next big thing in cleaning is going completely cordless or robotic which at present don't offer bagged versions that I know off they are all bagless. We will see what the future brings hey!

Hey Scott, if you are interested in the Oreck Axis, check out Fred's posting on the Super Market forum with the TTI friends discount. They're only 159.99, 40.00 less than even on the regular Oreck website. That's a great deal if that would suit your needs. Every frieze has different depths and density, some it would work fine on, or may lock down on the carpet. If you happen to have a piece of that carpet, take it in to the Oreck dealer, and see how the current Gold or Signature model would work on it. I will say, as wimpy as the Magnesium seems, we have sold a boatload of them, especially to frieze owners, and have had little to no complaints.

I saw that deal and almost jumped right on it! However, I've been reading the reviews on the Axis on QVC's website and it has nearly 50 two or one-star reviews basically complaining of it's inability to clean carpet deeper than short pile. I'll have to see if I have any scraps I can take with me to an Oreck dealer. As stupid as it sounds, I just cannot get over the way the Magnesium looks. Granted it will spend most of the time in the laundry room but I just can't get past the odd appearance. Since I already have the central vac (works wonderfully) with a hybrid setup (mix of regular outlets and a Hide-a-Hose outlet) I can't justify the cost of a felix. However, I'd definitely buy one if I were to move into a house without central vac!

What about the Miele S160 stick vacuums - I think the U.S still have them? They of course can swivel but some models are available with PN heads.
