baged or bagless 2

i sucept i might be opeaning up a can of warms here like the original post did but any way what do you perferr a baged vacuum or bagglees

Personally...

As an allergy sufferer, I prefer bagged. By bagged I don't mean the cheap WalMart plastic vacuums that use low grade paper. I mean the Polypropylene HEPA bags used in Miele, Kirby, etc. While my Dyson filters good, I find myself bringing outside to empty it for good measure. Both are good systems, but I prefer bagged.

bagged, Even at 4 bucks a pop for Miele bags changed once a month, and a new Hepa filter, it's better than getting sick and going to the Dr.

The Lindhaus paper bags retail for $24.95 for 10 with two Filtrete exhaust filters included. and the bags are treated with nano-silver to kill bacteria and viruses on contact.

I like Dyson for bagless. Otherwise bagged for me. The part I struggle with on the bag front is the smell which can arise if the same bag is left in place. So much so that I have in the past used a new bag everytime I used my cleaner. But I have a Dyson DC04 now so that solves my problem.

thing is there seems to be a thing for someones threads to gain as many posts as they can get to somehow simulate popularity.

Have noticed that for a while now, and once a topic gets around 70 or 80 posts you find it then gets repeated by someone who wants to be popular.

Always backfires and thread gets ignored.

Had just the same over at aw.org about a Hotpoint thread where 200 odd pictures were posted and 3 months later a "have a go" member wanted us to post it all again depsite it being in the archives.

turned out he wanted a popular thread. Highly original huh.

Its NEVER the amount of posts a thread gets but the QUALITY inside them that makes a good thread. Have read some really good threads where only 1 post has been made and its been informative and cleared up a matter without any need for other questions or ponders let alone drivel to bump the count up.

If one is truly allergic...

the question comes down to this: How can one minimize the dust released when changing the bag or dumping the dirt cup?

With the bagged units a flap or seal of some kind helps keep the dust and dirt trapped. Don't squeeze the bag.

With the bagless units, a bottom-empty cup is a must, and it must be set on the bottom of the trash can and very slowly lifted up while the release lever is held down so as to minimize stirring up dust.

It would be interesting to see both operations conducted under UV light to see how much dust is actually released.

The only way to totally eliminate dust when emptying is with a Rainbow or similar water trap vacuum. Even a bagged central vacuum will release a tiny bit of dust when changing the bag.

I prefer bagless for convenience and no extra running costs (Dyson and Vax Machs) and bagged for suction power and dirt disposal.

<p class="MsoNormal">And their self-sealing bags. Personally, I think the Electrolux canisters have the best bag system. I've had very little dust escape when I hold onto the cardboard collar. True, some dust will escape if the bag is squeezed. No one mentioned Electrolux and this topic has been done to death!</p>

I prefer bagged to be honest -the only advantage of having bagless/cyclonic (and the only reason I have such a machine) is to clear up all the bird seed and dry pet food on a daily basis - fine if its on a hard floor whereupon dustpan and brush time - but if its on carpet and ground in, a bagless, cyclonic upright takes over from my old cordless, "bag-less" Black and Decker dust buster.

Bagged or Bagless

I use a Hoover Windtunnel Model U5753-900 to clean the contract grade carpet in my store (a custom framing shop) and am satisfied with its performance provided that the bin is emptied after every cleaning. It is no good at all for products such as Resolve High Traffic Carpet Cleaner (the kind that you shake on the carpet, brush in to clean and vacuum up when dry) as the HEPA filter clogs up totally and then needs to be replaced, which is not a cheap date. So, a Convertible or other paper bagged cleaner would be a better choice for that kind of stuff and I'd replace the bag after I used it for something like that...
