I am trying to find a Morphy Richards canister, several months back someone had a picture of one posted and I fell in love with it, it looks similar to a Eureka roto matic crossed with a G E , I had never seen one before as European machines are non existant in the south, If anyone knows of one for sale please contact me...Hans [email protected] Thanks!

I've never seen a Morphy Richards vacuum in Canada. In fact I'd never even heard of that name up until a couple of years ago and some small appliances started appearing on store shelves. .Made in China stuff actually posing as British made quality stuff.
One day this past fall I was at the library perusing thru the old microfilms of our towns newspaper, the late 1950's and early 60's editions and I saw some small ads for Morphy Richards appliances so I guess at one time back then they were selling stuff here in Canada. I've never run across any in my thrift store haunts.. and I do a lot of thrift store haunting LOL
BTW going thru old microfilms of newspapers at the library is a really interesting. Looking at the old appliance and car ads.

Rare as hen's teeth here in the UK too, MR cannisters appear to have been based very much on GE Swivel top. They also had an upright bassed, apparantly, on a 1950s Eureka upright - previous to the model that Fred started a thread on recently. I say Eureka as it has what appears to be a "back saver" handle

Mine was robbed!
I had a two-tone brown one, which I picked up on the market for about £10. I can't now remember if it had the hose or any attachments...but in any case it disappeared after a garage break-in in 2004..
It was circa 1960s.

Actually there were two ....
As well as the "swivel top" MR cleaner there was also a more conventional cannister as well as the picture below shows. The true origin of this cleaner is uncertain, but it is most probably Goblin manufacture. I believe this same cleaner was sold in Australia as an HMV

Again where is was manufactured is uncertain, but I think it is unlikley to be St Mary Cray (MR headquarters). This cleaner was around from late 1959 - the picture below is 1963

Hey Hans, it was me who posted on AW, great choice but you`ll have to get in the queue for that one!!! rare as hens teeth as Al says, this was our second family vac, never seen one anywhere and have been avidly looking for years!!!
Very heavy & durable, the hose was grey plastiflex, and had a big rubber cuff near the connector so it wouldnt chaffe, the metal tubes where very long with a curved bit where it clipped on the brush, it had "pip connections" on all attachments, and you could use it as a blower!!! I remember the
