Are there HEPA synthetic “cloth” bags for Tristars?

At one of the local vac shops, I spotted a nice Tristar which looks like the one in the photo below. I suspect that I could get it for pennies on the dollar, so I am throwing around the idea of picking it up. I e never had a Tristar before and I might swap it for my recently refurbished UP13.

Question: can I get synthetic cloth “HEPA” type bags for this cleaner? I don’t even mind if they don’t have the actual HEPA cert; I just don’t like paper bags. Prefer genuine, too.

Several but No "genuine" tristar bag. They are a big step-up on filtration. Go to any of the recent posts about Compact machines and you'll learn lots! I can't recommend them enough! Grreg

@blackheart Even though those aren’t genuine, they are what I was aiming for. Usually I stick to genuine, but I think I would make an exception here. Based on my limited knowledge of Tristars, I have gathered that filtration is not exactly a strength of the genuine bags. Surprisingly!

Next time I drop by the store in question, I may make some kind of offer on the machine. Depending on how I feel about the price, and how much space I have for a new vac, I may spring for it. That said, I may just hold out for a Sebo instead. I’m really liking the idea of an E3, X7, or XP10. I may end up importing one, actually. It turns out that I could save hundreds(!) by buying a 220v European model, even with the cost of international shipping, customs, and a 2000W step-up transformer. Who knew?
 
Genuine Tristar bags

Yeah I've tried a few I was not impressed. I've tried 3 brands of bags, DVC, Envirocare, and genuine Tristar. DVC were the worst being just a single layer bag and the envirocare were the best but still let dust through.

I've been in contact with some tristar people who always tell me to use genuine bags due to them having the correct flow for the vacuum, but why would I want to use a bag that I know is leaking dust?

I've never used the V.A.C brand for them yet but when my CXL arrives i'll buy a pack I expect they'll be the best bag for them yet.
 
Well that is quite the find i will most defiantly buy a few packs for my Compact C9 and see how it does wonder if they ship to Canada humm?
 
Tried the HEPA bags today...........

On the suggestion from Blackheart, I ordered the HEPA bags on the day he posted about them and they arrived today.

I used them today in my fairly new CS with the 12' hose and they work great! I only vacuumed the living room and dining room, (it was vacuumed this morning with a Kirby Sentria I), and was surprised how the bright white of the bag became gray. It is satisfying to see I got more dust/pollen/dead skin cells, etc. out of the carpet along with some cat hair.

The CS sounded the same as when I use the genuine Tri-Star bags or the Environcare bags. Thanks for the recommendation and for what it is worth I fully endorse them.

Ill buy em for my compact electra c9 on pay day cant wait to try em out .
Glad they work good for your machine , i wonder if they will keep the cloth bag clean .

I ordered should have by this weekend. The envirocare bags keep my cloth bag clean. I'm pretty sure the HEPA will do the same. I'm thinking a full HEPA bag may restrict air flow if the cyclone technology is affected by the bag. I'm not sure it may not but it may.

Keep me posted on how it performs im thinking of adding a hepa pre motor filter to my c9 whit the vac hepa bag it would be nice .Im sure it will perform correctly well see how it goes more bags for my c9 is good i only have to packs left haha
 
So the hepa bag fit in the cloth tristar compact bag do they hurt. the airflow or? im gathering info before making an order for my restored Compact C9

I received mine last night. I'd use it tonight but wife is already asleep annd a vacuum waking her up is last thing she wants and I want. She likes my pig vacuum but waking up to it would be rude. I'm thinking hurt the performance and I'll load bag up and run see if airflow decreases and I'll check blower port see if any back pressure.
I'm not sure HEPA will be better than envirocare but envirocare or hepa. The generic white bags I'll never use.

I've attached picture of envirocare and HEPA bags. HEPA are thicker seem pretty breathable where I can see them working I don't know I'd buy for everday use. Envirocare bags work perfect the HEPA might filter a little better but $1.00 or more per bag is Rich for my blood being capacity of bag is between gallon to gallon and a half or 6-9 liters.
We have a lab house dog and the bag gets full and I vacuum about once a week. I vacuum bedroom every other day just my OCD twitch of cleanliness.
Hopefully this helps I will review tommorow give air flow comments.

Mine showed up today.

Well I put a clean paper bag and then swapped to the hepa bags. The cloth bag and pre motor filter were washed last week and the vacuum has been used 4-5 times since then so the cloth bag should still be very clean.
CFM ratings (machine body)
Paper: 5079 FPM or 132.56 CFM
Hepa: 5236 FPM or 136.65 CFM

Now that's not a significant difference. I am going to stick to the hepa bags though as they generally lose less power as they fill and they will keep my cloth bag cleaner than the paper ones.
 
Hi all!

Well, I didn't get the Tristar because he and I couldn't agree on a price. However, I'm glad that this thread helped some of you discover these new bags! They look really nice.

Blackheart: I agree. It has been my experience that HEPA bags really shine as they fill. Compared to paper bags, they really maintain performance over time. Not only that, but they tend to have less flow resistance when they are new, too. The added filtration and material durability are just icing on the cake!
 
Hey

I ordered and used. The bag crammed full and no loss of suction. The enviocare bag same results.
The only difference I noticed is on envirocare bags fur stays in center of the bag. The HEPA bag hair sticks to side I believe because of material.
I was just surprised no loss of suction. If HEPA had a possible benefit i think the hair might might the hair might compress together more.
I'll use I'm going to vacuum out and reuse bag. I have a lifetime supply of envirocare bags.
