I'm just asking, are the new Toshiba electronics any good? I just noticed Funai (company that owns Sylvania, Emerson, Phillips, Symphonic, and Magnavox) got the rights to this brand and made them in China and not Japan or the USA.

Please provide your opinions and experience on a Toshiba product.

I've had experience with Funai-made products, I have a Sylvania TV and Magnavox DVD player by them. This is all mostly Walmart stuff, although they are sold on the lower end of other stores. I'd say the quality is decent, they do their job, but are nothing high-end.

Toshiba as true Japanese Toshiba would be much better quality than Chinese Funai-Toshiba though.

I happen to own a 32" philips and that has been going great for 4 years now. Funai doesn't own all of philips though, i also have had Emerson, Sylvania, etc... all decent products but again like mentioned above not all will provide the High Quality experience. toshiba on the other hand I have had several dvd players and not many issues at all. for the money spent weather it be high dollar or cheap toshiba holds up pretty well

Hi, I don't know if this could be useful or completed outdated, but I used to own a vacuum cleaner, a canister with a sort of three bags in one, magic bag they called it and still runs, except the wands and floor brush worn out and should be changed some years ago. Actually I don't remember if it was Japanese or not, but it was bought in 1981 new and still is going strong!. I gave it to a friend who hast it yet.

Sorry guys, but re-reading my statement, I found out that I didn't mention the make of the vacuum, it is a Toshiba canister vacuum. I apologize for my forgetting the name. Thanks Gus

I have a Toshiba hard drive in my HP Laptop that replaced a Seagate Momentus HDD that quit within my 1 year warranty and I've owned the computer for nearly 6 years and still going strong. I also have a Toshiba Satellite 4000CDS running Windows 98 that's been running great even though its outdated I still play DOS games on it.
