While it annoys me that manufacturers recycle names for completely different machines (Bissell Big Green, Bissell Pro-lite, Bissell Lift Off, Dirt Devil Broom Vac... Bissell seems to be the least creative) to name a few, I have been quite intrigued by the new Bissell that is an obvious competitor to the Rug Doctor. Has anyone had a chance to try it out yet? I've never been a fan of their regular machines, preferring the Hoovers since I was old enough to know the difference, this new one has me intrigued. I know that Lowes is selling it for more than Wal-mart has the Rug Doctor, I wonder which is truly better. Is it still true that the dirt tank on a Rug Doctor cannot be removed and the whole machine has to be tipped over and dumped out, or have they fixed that by now? I do like that the Bissell has a handle that actually reclines and that it cleans in forward and reverse.... no tipping the machine up on its back wheels to go forward and doing a back stroke only.
What do you guys think?
On a side note, a friend just picked up a Bissell Spot Bot and I got to play with it for the first time. It left the carpet a little wetter than I expected and ran for a really long time.... the suction seemed really weak even at the hose, but it did get the stains out!
