anyone tried forever bags?

Hey guys... I don't remember if this has bee discussed here before or not, but I was wondering if any of you have ever tried forever bags? There's a guy who makes cloth bags with plastic clips that are made to be reused.... he makes them for many different models. I know then bring up the whole issue of turning a bagged machine back into a bagless mess/disaster, but I think it would be fun to see the dirt that some of my bagged machines get up and to have back up bags in case I run out of the disposables. How do they do at filtration? Do they alter the performance of the vacuum? Worth the money?

A lot depends on what model of machine you will use the bags on. Ive tried Hoover cloth bags for type A (very similar to the ones being marketed) and was very happy. Also used DVC cloth bag for Riccar/Panasonic upright and was very pleased.

I used them and they arent worth it because they fall apart after you wash them a few times(the guy said its ok to wash them) and it makes a big dust cloud.

Yes, the material he is making the bags from unfortunately de-laminates & falls apart into fuzzy piles and clots when washed or brushed. At one point in the video you can see the surface fuzzing.

The LG Kompressor-reminds me of a "paddle packer" in some types of Auto side load trash trucks.

I'm most surprised by the brands/models that the "forever" bag is offered for. They even make them for Miele models! I'd rather just get on eBay and find my Miele bags in ther DVC brand, seeing that I already have a HEPA afterfilter. HEPA bags are probably overkill and Miele's HYclean bags fill too quickly.

I've been quite impressed with the DVC Miele bags! I know someone here once said using those bags in a Miele was like putting cheap gas in a Mercedes or something like that.... but they are excellent bags. They are the "cloth" feeling kind of course, not the paper ones.

DVC actually makes some of the "org brand" bags!(Electrolux)Instead of DVC printed on the bag-its marked Electrolux or some other vacuum cleaner brand.Learned this from a former Electrolux dealer.

I've also heard that DVC makes Electrolux bags. Seems like I heard they make some Hoover bags too.

Kind of an Oxymoron

Is a "forever bag" nothing bore that a bag-less vacuum. I men I have nothing against the idea of them but is that not why we want to use bags, so we can dispose of them?
