Just saw the demonstration of the little Dyson DC26 on HSN this morning. I was so temped! They are showing some type of new turbine brush that has "carbon brushes". This can be used and designed to really clean the hardwood floors without damage to the finish. Also came with many of the same features I love on my Dysohn DC23 Turbine canister. It looked very powerful for it's size on the demonstration. Just what I need-ANOTHER Vacuum!
Does anyone have one or used one of these little Dyson's?

Dyson DC26 City

Yes, I have one. It came into my bf's uncles store a few weeks ago and we got it for $100.00 It is a nice little canister, fun to play with, and good for hard floors, and low/short pile carpet. If you use it on a higher pile carpet it tends to bog down and stop the brush roll. The hose is a bit stiff and sometimes awkward to use, also if you are holding the canister while using the hose the exhaust air tends to blow right in your face. Other than those things and the short cord it works great. It's rated at 8amps but has wonderful suction and works great on our hard floors, and Berber carpet. Oh the dirt bin is small, but as it fills up the suction is the same. The filters are also washable, and the brush roll is easy to take out and clean. I will have Ron take pics of ours and put them on maybe tomorrow or Monday.

100.00

Dave, my bf's uncle owns 3 surplus stores in our area, his mom manages the one I work at so we get the good deals on the good stuff :o) it was marked at $250.00 but that's an advantage of dating your managers son hehe

Disappointed

I usually really like Dysons. I bought this machine the day it was released and am pretty certain I was the first one in the region to have one. It was the first one sold from a Midwest Best Buy. I had to have it. But, I wasn't happy with the little turbine head. And, its tiny size makes it very cute, but I'm 6'3", and it wasn't comfortable to use. I guess it'd be much better for a smaller person not wanting to clean carpet, but it just didn't do anything for me.

Thanks Patrick. I was comparing it to your new Simplicity. I think you got more for your money with the Snap. I usually like the Dysons but I think this machine would have to be for a very specific use. The Snap looked so deluxe by todays standards.

It would b great for someone who has a small area to clean with very low rugs or none at all. When I think of other vacuums could be appropriate for a space suitable for the DC26, the first one that occurs to me is the Miele ART, interestingly. If dyson had made the machine a Motorhead with an electric power head, I'd probably like it a lot more. It doesn't have enough airflow to drive a turbine.

The dc26 is not available here , one of my customers brought one back from a visit to the Uk and brought it to me to show me , he then found out that he is been moved to the USA so he gave it to me , brand new in its box, I wasn't going to moan about it. It gets allot of attention in the shop but in reality its to small for SA homes , the dc22 is to small already
