I got to looking at one of these the other day, and I was just curios if anyone had any experience with them. I'm looking for a new PN canister and this one looked interesting, but some of the reviews posted on the Walmart and Hoover websites are concerning. I think it looks neat, and the multi-cyclonic should mean it really doesn't lose suction if I am correct.

There's a link to it on the Walmart site. Any thoughts? Consumer Reports rated it pretty good.

Tacony buys all the new vacuums that come on the market, and we test them on the treadmill for cleaning ability and durability (motor life). Eight minutes on, two minutes off, until the motor dies. That Hoover is a very good machine at cleaning rugs, the neck of the power nozzle is the weak zone. You must be careful with it, as well as the telescopic wand, as they tend to break. The on/off switch is in the hose handle, so you have to baby that part too. The dusting brush is CHEAP and hardly dusts anything. Overall, the motor life isn't bad, about 400 hours. And I love how very effective the cyclonic separation is. Better than Dyson with respect to passing dust to the pre-motor filter. Overall, a good vacuum BUT you have to baby it. Great for a collector, terrible for someone who is hard on vacs.

I have the lower end green model and love it. It is the same thing as the Platinum except it doesn't have a main vacuum power switch in the handle or a heigh adjustment. My favorite part is the hose, it is a good length and very flexible. I also love the power nozzle because it really digs in and grooms the carpet nicely. As Tom said, the dusting brush is cheap and the power nozzle neck does seem weak. I would also advise purchasing a floor brush for bare floors as it doesn't include one. I just use the Hoover one from my stainless steel Constellation.

Definitely make sure you check out the red or green model though because they are cheaper and you're only sacrificing a few features.

Hope that helps!

Looked At the Walmart Website and Didn't See the Red and

When I was going through the Walmart website, I didn't see the red and green models and I may have just overlooked them - but I did order the silver platinum collection one - not only did they have the best price online, I got a nice chunk off with my associate discount as well. But I did see that Hoover has a new bagless PN canister they're calling the WindTunnel Air canister - looks pretty neat. I'll post pictures and my thoughts on the S3865 when I get it.

Good Choice in that Hoover. If you treat the power nozzle neck nicely (don't shove it into furniture, which I'm sure you don't), you'll have no problems with it. You'll LOVE how well the power nozzle deep cleans rugs. Probably won't have to clean the pre-motor filter for at least six months, it's really a wonderful cyclonic design. Congratulations on a really nice vac.
