Anyone bought a Maytag Satellite??

Hoover was owned by Maytag at the time.  The Satellite was a rebadge of the constellation.

Love mine by the way, just wished they had given it a power nozzle option.

It was not a knockoff - it was an anniversary tribute. They took the classic Constellation design and then loaded it with modern tech and made it shiny chrome. They flopped when they came out and they didn't sell what they hoped, a lot of them got clearanced out like crazy. Great vacuum if you like Constellations - they did a great job on upgrading it.

The UK called it the Maytag Satellite, but in the USA it was kept the original Hoover Constellation name.

Here's a video of it being pitched on QVC UK.

As I understand it, the Maytag branded ones were sold mostly in Europe, over here we got it as a Hoover Constellation. I have that same exact stainless and black machine shown, but it’s called a Constellation.

The extreme heat coming off the "new" constellation's chinese single fan motor is scary hot. Don't let your 'new' constellation float in one spot for more than a minute. It will heat the carpet severely and might loosen the backing. Remember, it's still exhausting the heat and air into the rug so any dirt, dust, freshener, etc. will be spewed into the air of the room. When I use mine, I turn it on its side so it doesn't melt or damage the carpet.

No problem. Just buy a step-down voltage converter transformer.

They look like this, but there is many different prices and sizes, so you have to do some calculations on the vacuum's power usage on how big of one you need. I believe you need one that is twice the power of the vacuum, but it's been awhile so I forget if that's correct or not.

MAYTAG Satellite - What replacement Bags should I buy?

Just bought the MAYTAG Satellite - brand new boxed from a seller on UK eBay. It seems he has a number of them brand new and selling them one by one (12/5/2022) Anyhow, sourcing the replacements bags in the UK is difficult.
I believe these where marketed in the US as the Constellation ( I love the old machine) hence I was attracted to this cleaner. Anyone can advise what bags I can get for the machine- I would be grateful. I have one spare Hepa filtration bag with the machine. Or even a bag that could be an alternative/adapted.
Thanks Colin

Here in the US they called them Type S bags which could be gotten in both HEPA synthetic (which was what the supplied ones were) or regular paper bags.

They may be an uncommon one in the UK, as I'm not sure you got any other Hoovers that took those bags. Here it was mostly the full size canisters like the Anniversary Windtunnel canister, and going back further the Futura and Spectrum, etc. I don't know if any of those were ever sold there, I'm thinking not.

If you truly cannot find any Type S bags over there, what I might do is cut the collar off of a used bag, and glue it onto another bag that will fit the machine. Then you can use a more readily available bag instead.

If I was living up in Montana, that'd be a perfect machine to use during the winter time to warm my carpets up from the exhaust since I usually don't turn my heater on.

Are they just a square fitting?

Lots of square bags are available, they're usually used in cheap bagged machines so manufacturers don't have to worry about making them

You might be able to custom make a bag with a Henry bag. Cut it down to size and then re-sew it - or leave one end open and clamped shut to make it a dump bag so you can re-use it.
