any great vacuum canister cleaner that equals tristar compact

how about a central vacuum

If you want a powerful hose cleaner, nothing beats a central vacuum, and you don't have to have pipes to use them. Some central vacuum units have a utility valve built in and for those that don't, you can simply attach a utility valve to the in-take. If you get an electric central vacuum hose you can use any power nozzle you want. This set up is more powerful than any portable canister cleaner. As far as I know, the most powerful single motor central vacuum unit is the Drainvac Viper, I have this unit and it's awesome.

I don't know why ProTeam decided to quit selling the ProVac CN, probably low sales I'm assuming. That also would've been an excellent choice as well.

Aerus

I think the Aerus products would be very similar in durability and performance. Aerus seals the dirt in their bag, an improvement over the Tristar with their open top bag. The Aerus is actually cyclonic and the dirt actually collects at the top end of the bag first leaving the bottom of the bag nearest the suction opening until the bag is 2/3 to 3/4 full then the center of the bag fills. This slows suction loss. The Aerus also has a suction loss monitor, it’s “Automatic Control” system on two of the three canister models which shuts the machine off when enough suction is lost due to the bag filling with dirt, something the tristar does not have. The Aerus attachments and power nozzle are very similar and the Aerus power nozzle is a little less bulky and the leg is longer and the power nozzle on two of the three models is also lighted whereas the tristar’s is not. The Aerus has a cord reel.

I love my Miele C3 Alize (FreshAir in Canada) and my Hoover Platinum Lightweight upright for carpets. Both are very easy to use and maintain, filter well and really get the job done efficiently.

Ok

Hers my post to put things in a better perspective that compacts are on a pedestal.
The c9 is 42 years old and was top of the line. The loss of airflow is funny it will out perform any electrolux. The compact is 42 and the standards in 1979 it was amazing.
In 42 years would a miele meet 2063 vacuum standards? Would the vacuumm even be around or recycled. It probably would be recycled and it would not do good when compared to vacuums in 2063.
If you do apples for apples use the patriot airstorm. It's basically the newest compact. It's better in air filtration and performance. It beats it and there's no disputing that.
The compact c9 is a good vacuum 42 years later. It still does an excellent above average job.
Knocking compacts and putting miele on a pedestal is funny.
I'm not going to argue about rainbows. I don't like there power nozzles and airflow is not higher than a compact. I like compacts and rainbows equally.
The proteam backpack vacuum will outperform every vacuum on the market by alot.
It's closer to a central vac than any other vacuum.

Ya know

old compacts aren't bad machine but again they're nothing special these days. I mean if you actually take the time to compare a stock one to a miele you find several advantages with a Miele.
Things like It's filtration, speed control, a power nozzle with a height adjustment allowing it to clean a wider variety of carpets, a cogged belt meaning significantly less belt changes, a cord winder, quieter operation, a power nozzle on/off switch, a bare floor friendly power nozzle, the machine is lighter, it's definitely more maneuverable.

The only real advantages a compact has is possibly longevity and cost of use. If we sit here and discuss all the changes made to one specific machine like les's where a different nozzle has been used then it's safe to say that any machine with higher specs that can be converted to use the same nozzle would also sit above the compact. Like if I were to convert a lux platinum or a Perfect C101 to use the same nozzle.

Again it's not trying to say they're bad machine they're just not the be all end all of vacuums some people try to say they are.

My point

Is there 42 years old not brand new.
The miele vs the newest patriot airstorm is a better comparison.
My point is the compact is still around and does a great job for me. Will a miele 2021 version be around and a good vacuum in 42 years?

RE;any great vacuum canister cleaner that equals tristar com

I HAVE BEEN reading these posts and searching over and over. it doesn' matter if one person posts me something and everyone jumps in.i stil research. i need something in canister that is not over 400 if possible.i have been thinking a lot about kenmore elite 21814.zero g and miele are nice but costs???i'm on s.s.if it weren't for $$$ i would invest in best i could get.i have been ripped off on ebay when i bought cxl tristar.i don't mind 2nd hand if we could only trust people . so a canister with great suction is what i'm after.the aerus is nice but i have an old electrolux, bags fill fast.small bags. for now ,stil looking .i didn't make my mind up yet.i thank you all with your suggestions.

Vacuum

The Kenmores cannisters is a very good vacuum. You could get one for $100-$300 depending on how new you want it.

kenmore 21814 or similar with good suction

i'm still thinking on the kenmore 21814. i looked at used on ebay but most come without hose/pipe and if they come with them, well almost cost as much a new one. are there any other canisters on the market that are good but not over 400.00? i read everyones suggestions and i go across internet to see the vacuum cleaners.i might just end up with the 21814 new. if youknow of other good newer ones that have great suction please add it in here.i will look. thank you everyone

Personally, I would recommend the Kenmore 81214 over the 21814. It's just as powerful but more basic and you would likely have more break down issues with the 21814 through the years of owning it. That would be my overall recommendation for a budget canister with an electric powernozzle of under 400.

yes ,i love tristar.had one new. bought one off ebay. man rip me off .it screeched, last maybe couple weeks. bought brushes but i am woman, lol so never tried putting them in.hubby has no interest in helping .i was going to buy motor ,so now im mainly focused on a kenmore elite. i have dogs bring mud in on paws.i seen people say get cloth bags if i get kenmore. supposed to have enough power to break paper bags.only thing is i wish they made l-shape powerhead like old electrolux. i have an old electrolux. i can't remember model 45-- or something. bags small ,fill fast.it pops open when they fill which is nice feature but i want new one now .i guess the kenmore elite is a new model 81214 ?i seen a prolux tritan but no powerhead, just a sweeper so thats out. thanks guys for your replys
