i would like to know if there is any vacuums as good as tristar compact? how are the new mieles? is there a miele that is a compact canister that is very powerful or any other brand?

Miele’s are really good the compact c2 is a really good one because it’s super small and nimble but still has the same Miele vortex motor they use in the rest of their lineup. The electro+ model comes in marine blue and hosts the SEB228 electro plus head which is a really nice full size full power head. I think you would like that given your specifications. Another one that you may like would be the zero g. It reminds me a lot of a Tri Star. I don’t know how compact it is and I don’t have any personal experience with one but I know vacuum devil on here has really good detailed videos about the zero g and I know he highly recommends it. I trust him because he definitely knows his machines.

I'd second with Mieles5380leo on the blue Miele Compact C2 Electro Plus, that is a fantastic canister. I also really like the red Miele C1 HomeCare PowerLine, the last vacuum shop that I worked at sells those because it's one of the only few canister vacuums that have less problems. Another brand that I really like is Sebo, also made in Germany like Miele. Both the K3 and the E3 models are just awesome vacuums. I personally own a Tristar CXL and I can say that I would definitely use either German canister(s) anyday over the Tristar. But if you prefer to still buy American, I'd also second with dysonman1. You really can't beat the Patriot.

Go for a older Compact/TriStar like the CXL/DXL/EX-20; they have more power than the A101 (EXL/MG/CS which is the current mdl) & the older mdls have metal wands with cord holder which is more reliable (although U will have to connect the pigtail cord for the Power Nozzle) than the A101 which have the electrified wands & don't hold up as well as the older units

If U want a mini PN (for vacing stairs & upholstery) U can use a Wessel Werk HEB160 (get the one with the pigtail cord) on older Compact/TriStar vacs

@salicia As much as I love tristars. That sort of performance is common with most of the middle to higher in canisters these days.

SEBO,Miele,Nilfisk, Lindhaus,Numatic & Zero-G all have Superior performance and features.

It's weird to me that somebody would complain about the price of replacement parts and then name a machine that has the exact same prices on the replacement parts.

if you're looking for a portable vacuum that's a daily driver consider all that I listed above.

Some of my favorite canisters I would recommend above in YouTube videos.

To me nothing equals and i mena nothing beats em !!!

Tristar Compact Patriot Air Storm and the Miricale Mate and of course distant cousin th e Vortech Force are in a leage of there own only match by the Filter Queen .
I own a mint condition Tristar CXL and a compact c9 not much can out suck a good old american made tristar iec . i find miele to be over price toys all plastic ya want tirstar power??? only one thing left to do get ya self a real vacuum a tristar period .

Recommend

I'd recommend the cxl or a patriot that's green or blue. I have a c8, c9 and cxl and the performance is the same on all 3 as the motors are the same.
I'd definitely suggest the wessell werk ebk 360. It runs about $150 but with a compact/tristar it's perfect.

I think

I think it's a bit ridiculous to put the tristars on such a high pedestal. The pre lux ones were good machines but i've seen machines with far more suction and airflow to claim they're unequaled is nothing more than uneducated bias.

I guess though the main question is what exactly are you looking for in a potential replacement?

I would happily take a Miele over a Compact/Tristar any day! for those collector(s) who say Miele's are junk should probably own more than 3 machines in their collection. Compact/Tristar machines actually lose quite a bit of airflow and it usually happens pretty quickly depending on how much you vacuum and how much sqft you vacuum. I agree with Blackheart on the fact that the Compact/tristar should be taken off of the pedestal. If you are looking for a replacement machine take a look and see what Miele has to offer, another machine that would be good to look at is a Perfect... Extremely powerful and basically an improved old Electrolux. You can also Look at the Aerus lineup. All in all I guess its all about what tickles your fancy in terms of attachments, power, versatility, quality, price and longevity.

No

You use the lotion to keep the skin soft or you get the hose!
The poster asked about tristars and compacts.
I'd love to own a miele. I also would love to have a central vacuum.
Why not a rainbow. I hear the new srx's are amazing.

electroluxxxx

one factor that needs to be taken in consideration when considering a Miele canister vs the tristar/compact.....is the absurdly high repair costs ( most likely it will be the electric hose for the Miele...its at least 3 times the cost of compact/tristar hose replacement)

I agree on considering a Rainbow...but they aren't good for quick pickups. From lots of testimonies and other stuff I"ve read on the SRX......uh, not impressive.

kelton

granted, that's totally true, but it also wasn't the only brand I was referring as there are plenty out there that will compare or do better lol. Someone mentioned the Patriot, and I also happen to have a Vortech Force XR3000 that I like quite well and I know for a fact that they still make them!

Les! you are too funny!

how about a central vacuum

If you want a powerful hose cleaner, nothing beats a central vacuum, and you don't have to have pipes to use them. Some central vacuum units have a utility valve built in and for those that don't, you can simply attach a utility valve to the in-take. If you get an electric central vacuum hose you can use any power nozzle you want. This set up is more powerful than any portable canister cleaner. As far as I know, the most powerful single motor central vacuum unit is the Drainvac Viper, I have this unit and it's awesome.

I don't know why ProTeam decided to quit selling the ProVac CN, probably low sales I'm assuming. That also would've been an excellent choice as well.

Aerus

I think the Aerus products would be very similar in durability and performance. Aerus seals the dirt in their bag, an improvement over the Tristar with their open top bag. The Aerus is actually cyclonic and the dirt actually collects at the top end of the bag first leaving the bottom of the bag nearest the suction opening until the bag is 2/3 to 3/4 full then the center of the bag fills. This slows suction loss. The Aerus also has a suction loss monitor, it’s “Automatic Control” system on two of the three canister models which shuts the machine off when enough suction is lost due to the bag filling with dirt, something the tristar does not have. The Aerus attachments and power nozzle are very similar and the Aerus power nozzle is a little less bulky and the leg is longer and the power nozzle on two of the three models is also lighted whereas the tristar’s is not. The Aerus has a cord reel.

Ok

Hers my post to put things in a better perspective that compacts are on a pedestal.
The c9 is 42 years old and was top of the line. The loss of airflow is funny it will out perform any electrolux. The compact is 42 and the standards in 1979 it was amazing.
In 42 years would a miele meet 2063 vacuum standards? Would the vacuumm even be around or recycled. It probably would be recycled and it would not do good when compared to vacuums in 2063.
If you do apples for apples use the patriot airstorm. It's basically the newest compact. It's better in air filtration and performance. It beats it and there's no disputing that.
The compact c9 is a good vacuum 42 years later. It still does an excellent above average job.
Knocking compacts and putting miele on a pedestal is funny.
I'm not going to argue about rainbows. I don't like there power nozzles and airflow is not higher than a compact. I like compacts and rainbows equally.
The proteam backpack vacuum will outperform every vacuum on the market by alot.
It's closer to a central vac than any other vacuum.

Ya know

old compacts aren't bad machine but again they're nothing special these days. I mean if you actually take the time to compare a stock one to a miele you find several advantages with a Miele.
Things like It's filtration, speed control, a power nozzle with a height adjustment allowing it to clean a wider variety of carpets, a cogged belt meaning significantly less belt changes, a cord winder, quieter operation, a power nozzle on/off switch, a bare floor friendly power nozzle, the machine is lighter, it's definitely more maneuverable.

The only real advantages a compact has is possibly longevity and cost of use. If we sit here and discuss all the changes made to one specific machine like les's where a different nozzle has been used then it's safe to say that any machine with higher specs that can be converted to use the same nozzle would also sit above the compact. Like if I were to convert a lux platinum or a Perfect C101 to use the same nozzle.

Again it's not trying to say they're bad machine they're just not the be all end all of vacuums some people try to say they are.

My point

Is there 42 years old not brand new.
The miele vs the newest patriot airstorm is a better comparison.
My point is the compact is still around and does a great job for me. Will a miele 2021 version be around and a good vacuum in 42 years?

RE;any great vacuum canister cleaner that equals tristar com

I HAVE BEEN reading these posts and searching over and over. it doesn' matter if one person posts me something and everyone jumps in.i stil research. i need something in canister that is not over 400 if possible.i have been thinking a lot about kenmore elite 21814.zero g and miele are nice but costs???i'm on s.s.if it weren't for $$$ i would invest in best i could get.i have been ripped off on ebay when i bought cxl tristar.i don't mind 2nd hand if we could only trust people . so a canister with great suction is what i'm after.the aerus is nice but i have an old electrolux, bags fill fast.small bags. for now ,stil looking .i didn't make my mind up yet.i thank you all with your suggestions.

Vacuum

The Kenmores cannisters is a very good vacuum. You could get one for $100-$300 depending on how new you want it.
