Help Support VacuumLand:

On the Radiance belts--same with the Syncrony and Brilliance-if the belt should break the dealer where you bought the vacuum from is supposed to replace it,free. These belts are multigroove kevlar fiber reinforced belts-have seen them on some types of power tools-in fact Partner rescue saws have similar belts-these are gas powered circular saws rescuemen use to cut thru roofs, walls, and car roofs to rescue accident and fire victims.Other tools use them-belt sanders. When I fixed tools breifly-NEVER had to replace such a belt. And some miter saws use these belts.Ones where the motor is behind the blade housing-not on the side.

Yeah, my dealer did the same..

He took off the cover and ran the vacuum with it off. I thought it was cool to see the bag in action inflating, etc. The Kevlar belt seems pretty tough, I'm guessing it would give a better RPM with the brushroll against the carpet. It's good to know that this is a sealed system, I know the Maytags would be too.

Does anybody have the 8900 series by chance? This is another Riccar machine I saw but did not get the chance to test.. I noticed the Vibrance too, but this was pretty much an entry level machine that I didn't care too much for.

S282-The dealer where I bought my Syncrony from was considering carrying the Maytag vacuums--but changed his mind about them for two things-their warrantee wasn't as long as the Simplicity Syncrony-and the name "Maytag" on a vacuum cleaner-most folks know of Maytag for large appliances such as washers, dryers, fridges, and such not for vacuum cleaners.Agree with him on the second point-how many customers out there associate Maytag with vacuums?

@tolivac sorry for the late reply..

I don't understand why they wouldn't have the same warranty as all theother Tacony machines given the fact that the Maytags are made by Tacony too..

But I agree.. every time I think of Maytag, I immediately think of washers and dryers. I'm guessing that's the main reason why I overlooked them at the vacuum store. I wonder how sales will turn out with the maytag lineup.

The vacuum dealer near me-the only one does not carry the Maytag machines. He only carries Simplicity. The warrantees are weird-its a same or similar machine! The housing and name are different.Suppose if I wanted the Maytag vacuum-he could order it.He doesn't stock them.Think this will confuse customers even more-Maytag washers and such are now under Whirlpool."Whirltags,Maypools"?They aren't the machines they used to be.Look on the neighboring Applianceville site and you'll see!

The now discontinued Riccar 8955 on left. It's replacement, the Riccar R20UP (ultra premium) on right. The Ultra Premium has the same double fan, double ball bearing high efficiency motor as the 8955, but adds a far longer hose, and a lifetime belt.

If anyone wants to discuss Tacony products, you can call the Factory Outlet Store at 573-265-0680 M - F 9-5. I'll answer any questions you might have.

I'd defniltey like to hear

Tom Gasko's opinion on the new Riccar R20UP. I'm definitely considering this same, exact machine. I've been having trouble reaching him at the factory outlet during those times lately.

S2 82

I just ordered the Riccar r20up for my girlfriends mom and had it shipped to her this weekend since we were coming to visit. She absolutely loves the machine, it really gets the cat hair off this one rug that none of her other machine would. This machine is replacing the sebo x4 we bought for her in 2008,Plus it's incredibly quiet. I've got nothing but great things to say about tacony and dealing with tom, he's very patient especially since I tend to ramble on haha.

Thanks for your input Colby,

I really like how they have updated this one versus the older Vibrance Models, I heard that it was redesigned to help increase airflow, amongst many other things, which is a major plus. Looks like this might be a good replacement for the older 8955 model.

The new Ultra Premium is a fantastic vacuum. The double fan motor has the suction power that's built to impress. The silver S20UP or the red R20UP are superior vacuums to almost anything except the Tandem Air designs.

Colby is a very intelligent individual and it was my pleasure to not only help a fellow vacuum cleaner collector with a new machine, but I enjoyed speaking to him as well. He really knows his vacuums.

tandem air

I absolutely love my S30P synchrony I purchased a couple of weeks ago. So Tom, are you saying that those tandem air machines will out perform the Ultra Premium models? Because I had actually considered the new Riccar R20UP before I purchased the Synchrony? Just curious on your thoughts :)Im assuming since I have a high pile plush carpet, that the tandem air machines are better deep cleaners?

The Tandem-Air models have a height adjustment, and the suction fan of the first motor is inches from the carpet. For high pile carpet (like Frieze), I recommend a Tandem-Air cleaner. The Ultra Premium is a fantastic by-pass type vacuum, recommended for people who want to be able to pick up hard particles (like rocks from a gravel driveway for example) with no fear of damage to the cleaner.

Just a very big shout-out

and thanks to Tom for all his patience answering my questions about the machine. I decided to order. I'm excited... my first Tacony machine.
