Had this email exchange and thought I would open it up for discussion. Am not fluent in this type of cleaner, but am sure that you boys and girls can provide some insight. I will tell her to watch the forum and hope she doesn't end up more confused than before. "What is the best vacuum?" - Yikes! What a question!

THANK you so much for getting back to me! Hoping less than $200, an upright model, I do like the bagless since I can see right away if I vacuum something by mistake, but primary importance is suction, suction with tools, and long cord, easy to carry up stairs, not heavy like Kirbys!, and NO dirt/dust accumulating on outside vacuum, in air.

I found your website when trying to get advice on vacuum cleaners by googling that kid, Kyle? that I saw on Tonght Show a while back. I just want a vacuum that works!, that doesn't blow dust everywhere. So t

I have a fairly new Bissel bagless, Momentum, Cyclonic. Has "continuous suction", which is stupid because when I take the hose attachment to use it, dust blows everywhere. the rollers also continue to roll when using hose attachment, spewing dust everywhere. I have to wash foam filter and dust cup each use, and can't get all the dust/dirt that adheres to crevices in cup evening when removing with Philips screwdriver. The vaccuum is very powerful, suction is great, but dust still blows outside machine. After vacuuming, a layer of dust settles everywhere on surfaces after 24 hr.

Do you have a vacuum cleaner that you would choose? I am just looking for advice, please, many many many thanks.

Hmm, well as far as a new machine, that would be tough. Any budget bagless vacuum I have come across in the past has not met these requested expectations.

However, if the choice of a used machine is an option, a pre-owned Dyson sounds quite suitable. E-bay has many older models such as the DC07, 14, 17 and so on for right around that price range (give or take). The "no loss of suction" statement really does live up to its reputation and the Dyson machines are easy to use, maintain and enjoy

Hmmm, sounds like the perfect vacuum to me, which doesn't exist! But I'd say a Hoover Wintunell. They really don't do what the promise in terms of picking everything up in the first pass, but most of them don't leak. Just tell him not to the Windtunell 2, I've heard it does just what he doesn't want it to do!

For less than $200, the only machine would be the

Hoover Tempo for $99 or the Hoover Anniversary Windtunnel bagged - the manual non power drive version.

tell them to get a bagged hoover tempo,not a windtunnel because of the switch setup.we fix too many of these at the vac shop.

I like a Nilfisk,iI have a gs80 and a gs90, both leak NO dust, lots of power and in general are better built than some of the others out there.
