Sometimes I can't help myself, especially when it's a great buy.

Prolux 6000, mfg 9/13. It was new but not in the original box. New package of bags still had the owners manual. MSRP $799, is what it says you can buy them on the internet all day for $219 - $399.

This one was freight damaged and sold as salvage. Both back wheels were broken,and the rear Axel was bent. Thast was all that was wrong. I ordered new wheels from parts warehouse. Panasonic upright wheels fit. I straightened the Axel. New machine under $80. I paid $61 for the salvaged machine and shipping and 11.65 for the replacement wheels.

Very nice machine, reminds me of a Panasonic Jetflow. Quiet, good suction, specs say 107 cfm. And it was cheap.

I frequent one of the sellers, Karensbarn.  I have bought several machines that were brand new but had been displays, or missing the original box, maybe some attachments, or manual.    Karensbarn, also sells returns or damaged items, so you may have to dust it up or do a minor repair, but usually at 1/4 the original price.


 


Sometimes they sell lots, and you can get 3, 4, or more in the lot for one price.  They also have flat rate shipping on all items for $8.95. 


 


I got a Hoover canister that was a return.  It was clogged with hair.  Looked like they had cleaned a barber shop and pet salon with it.  Cleaned it out, it's perfect.


 


I go a Panasonic MC-CG917 for $65.  The original box was torn up, the manual was missing, everything else was complete and had never been used.  No damage to the machine what-so-ever.


 


You just have to watch the pictures and read the descriptions to see if this is what you want to get into. 


 


Some of the machines have gone for way over what they were worth.  I think some bidders get hung up in the auction.  Recently a Miele C-2 sold for $545.  You can buy new in the box, warranted for less.    Sharks sell all the time for $45.  Dysons always command a price above what I am willing to pay.  Bissells and Hoovers show up all the time for good prices. 
 
Bidding on KarensBarn items

You are right that people get caught in the frenzy of bidding on some Karensbarn items. A couple of Miele Dynamic U1's for parts sold for not less than you can get a working U1 for. I bid when it was at about $50, but then the price shot up well over $100. Either they know what they are doing starting off at $.99 or they have straw bidders pushing up the price.

Unless it is sold "As Is" they will accept returns for full refund, no questions.


Only catch is you pay return shipping.  Not a problem with Paypal, as you get 12 free returns per year. 


 


I just returned a machine that said New, Complete in the listing.  When received the hose was missing.  No problem returning.


 


Unless I really see potential, my top bid is $30.  I win more than I lose.
