Another Goodwill Kirby surprise - wanna guess what is is?

So some of you know about the low-hours Gsix 2000 Special Edition that I got at a particular Goodwill store 6 weeks or so ago for $21. Very unexpected but was too nice to pass up. It had no attachments, but I just wanted it for the self-propelled feature for use on carpet.
It was supposed to be a quick cleanup but turned into a complete resto (ready for assembly now). Restoration thread is ongoing.

Early this week I went back to the same store (routine visit) and was surprised by something else by Kirby, that just had to come home with me. Can anyone guess what it was? )

YES - I had found the matching (and almost complete) attachment set for the Gsix!

They were in a big plain cardboard box on a bottom shelf in the area where small appliances were. I must have walked past them twice before. The only reason I noticed them this time was that I had seen the corner of the shampooer box which was black and gold and those colors made me stop and look.

All parts look completely unused. There was some light surface dust from storage but nothing showing any use. The impressions in the gasket on the front of the Gsix showed where the nozzle was attached but not the hose. The small handle was still in the plastic bag.
The only part that is missing is the hard floor nozzle. However my Kirby shop should be able to locate a good used one for me. Is the Gsix the only G-series to use the black attachments?

For some reason I got two sets of wands (tall ceilings perhaps?)

The carpet shampooer set which looks like it was used once, probably for the in-home demo. The little foam filter was deteriorated as usual.

The owners manual and warranty book do not look like they were ever read. There is no writing in any of them, either. The VHS tape is still sealed. I also found a G5 tape that was opened, I will watch it some time when I get time…

Despite all of the parts being in excellent condition, I washed all of them with simple green and water just so they will be as ‘new’ as could be.

Nice find. Those attachments do look as if they've never been used. The combined cost of the vacuum and the accessories is still a pretty sweet deal.

I think the Avalir also comes with black tools but they don't come in the plastic caddy. They come in what looks like a gym bag.

The total of the vacuum, attachments, tax, two new bearings and 3 belts comes out to $67, which is not bad for a like-new vacuum/shampoo set that will last me for decades.
I did get the G6 back together today and it works great, but the tranny needs adjustment.
Will update that thread this week.

I do not like this Kirby caddy thing - everything is crammed in there and stuff falls out. Does anyone have a picture of how all the tools are supposed to be stored? The bex for the Omega and the case for the Tradition are more handy (despite the crappy case latch).

Despite the cheap look and feel of the newer duffle bag for tool storage, I can see it being much more convenient...

This can be to each his own way.I know a Kirby salesman who puts them in the same order every time.This works best for me--
(Extra wands are a nice bonus but set them aside.And decide if you want suds gun left with shampooer or vac atts.)Crevice tool in oval slot and hose on velcro strap(only places they will fit).2 wands at back corners male end down.Groomer att in left upper hole, rectangular att with bristle in right upper hole.Dusting in left lower hole,upholstery in right lower hole.Others in large compartment as you choose.

Hey rugsucker - thanks for the storage tips! This helps a lot. The sudsy-gun only belongs with the shampooer, and will probably get used just as often. I had to disassemble it though. I suppose my missing floor nozzle would fit inside the caddy when I find one.

Now when I went to pick up the caddy, I stuck my thumb right into the brush attachment. Therefore I did a little rearranging to keep that from happening again. Also I stuck the wands together before I go and lose them (and I would).
Some times you just gotta break the rules... )

Riv, the bearings really did not need replacing. However they were because the dreaded MAWs (might-as-wells ) made me do it.
I figured while it was so far apart, since they are so cheap, that the grease is almost 20 years old, and they were dirty .......... )

Thanks for posting the photos of how the tools go, texaskirbyguy. That is something I could never figure out for years. It's like trying to fit a power drill back in the plastic case it came with. Also yes, if the owners had vaulted ceilings they might have needed more reach, or to reach off an upper landing across the room on a two story house (ceiling fans can be commonly placed in those locations).
