I found on ebay. The description was terrible and showed a box of stuff not related to the G next to it.  One distant pic and I sent two messages to the seller through ebay (always use this function, as it's in ebay's records as well) for better pics and more info and got no response until an hr before auction's end. Because of all that, I lowered my bid in half and won the damn thing anyway. Also, there is a newer style hose and a older PN with it, but unclear if I get that or not?  The response I got was "sorry been out of town what are you wanting pictures of"<span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: arial, sans-serif; color: #000;"> Really?? <span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;">Clearly in the ebay message format, the item# and description is visible. </span></span>

What's interesting about this G is that it looks like it's carrying some dealer/factory rebuilt stickers on it and...it has the correct wheels on it....at least on one side!

Oh well, I'm willing to take the chance and told the seller to do better than a big box with pieces of newspaper.

Thanks.....

keeping my fingers crossed for sure! But the pragmatist in me says, 'wait, wait until you see it'. I don't know why, but I kinda fancy a LUX with the rebuild stickers. Doesn't really mean anything unless it had little use after the rebuild, other than the owner cared a bit about the vacuum at some point.

Elux rebuild sticker

G rebuild 'sticker' would usually be rectangular metal plate riveted under handle area from factory.Colors could include blue, brown, grey.Paper sticker is usually handed out at branch for salesmen to stick on any vac hoping customer will call with service/supply needs and can be in any area.At one time if customer brought vac to branch for repair and it had sticker with active salesmans name they would get commission on repair.Good luck. Hope G arrives OK.

Seller.....

refused to send anymore pics or close-up of the unit. So.....all I can say is it has several, including one yellow, rectangular one.  All probably dealer stickers then....we'll see.

Well....

I finally got the G. Really weird seller and weird condition G. It runs, but the cord is seriously dangerous. The seller hid the warts for sure; dent on the bottom and only two good wheel-the ones they pictured. But then there's the really weird part. There was a box next to the G in the auction pic. I wasn't sure whether that box came with it or not? Well, it did. It had a little LUX rug shampoo head and assorted accessories like older LUX floor attachments and some other stuff. Some I don't recognize and some that say Rexair. Some hover bags were thrown it. And then...I'm about to throw the box out because it's filled with those peanuts (those to me, are like fingers on a blackboard to most people) and I find two owner's manuals for the G. I paid $10 for one a few yrs ago and these two are in better shape. Tucked inside one is the instruction for a color TV amplifier of vintage yrs.

I don't know if I'll restore this particular G, or keep it for parts.  I would never use the LUX shampoo head, so it would just be an artifact for me. Another bonus is that I have a pile of PN wands/receivers and I was trying to make just one good one for a PN2....finally in this last box was the piece I needed. So in a goofy off-hand way, this was a good deal for me. I'll take some pics and consider trading for the stuff in the box I don't want.

In the pics the floor tools are marked by manufacturer; two Rexair and one older, big LUX. The black crevice tool is probably a Rexair? I didn't picture the turquoise LUX crevice tool because I'm keeping it. I also didn't picture the PN1, as I'm keeping it for parts

Finally....

another shot of the G.  The stickers turned out to be; owner's name and address, yellow one was too faded. Probably a repair sticker at one time?

Hard....

to imagine the history on this unit. I get a feeling the seller lucked into it, inherited it etc along with that box of parts. My best G was found at a junk store up in the 'vacuum room'.  They didn't give it away, but whomever the PO was,  they took fantastic care of it.  I don't think this one has seen long hrs, but it's been shoved around in storage places a lot (probably how the wheels got broken). I've got so many projects going on right now, this one will have to wait awhile.

-G-

Looks like a nice G all things considered. It is the early version with PN outlet in door.Broken wheels were typical with any degree of abuse.Stickers are probably from local office supply/printer and not official from Elux to branches. The brush strips are felt floor buffer atts most likely for AirWay straight suction uprights but Eureka and others used similar. The shampooer is an update of the previous gray/blue polisher. With tank removed and stiff brisle added it also polishes. This was the first Elux shampooing other than spraying suds out of glass jar attachment.-Happy Vacuuming.

Thanks....

for the info, Jimmy. All the parts are for sale or trade. The shampoo head is nice, but other than an adornment accessory, I'll never use it. The Rexair floor brushes should go to the guys that collect that and the same with the AirWay brushes.

The G's I have, never had that cord protector and they were original cords. They also had the PN plugs just ahead of the right front wheel. Yeah, you're correct that this unit's PN outlet would indicate an early model.  With the dent pushed out and cleaned up again, this would be a nice little unit. I couldn't stop there though...have to go through the motor and internals. Maybe this winter.

My original idea was to have one pristine model of the LUX's I like and then daily drivers of the same. I'm only about half way there, because that includes going through the PN's as well.

That was the first

Model G, I believe. The pn outlet was on the front under where you connect the hose. My mom's old G is like that. I remember the pn cord was always coming unplugged. Our lux salesman kept giving us these metal things that would slide in under the pn outlet thus keeping the cord in there snug. When that outlet funally wore out I put an after market pn outlet on top of the machine..

That style of felt pad was also made for Regina Electric Brooms. You would have to test and see if they fit as they look very similar to those used on the Airway etc.
