What a great advert! Thanks for posting it, Charles.

Ad copy is a bit sensational - "Now Hoover takes the running out of cleaning...turns on and off right where you are, not way back at the cleaner."

The double stretch hose is extra long but really now...'waaaaaay back'? Saves you the arduous time-consuming dangerous-in-high-heels trek across the carpet. But in fact it is a clever trick, as 1960s Housewives and Ladies tended to sit at the telephone table to chat at length and even tho the Constellation is a quiet vacuum it does seem wasteful to leave it running and floating about unattended for 20 minutes at a time

And we get a new Hoover Slogan for the Trivia Competition & Crossword Puzzle - "Use your thumb to save your feet."

Where is that ad from, Charles? I would looooooooooove to have a copy of it!

There aren't many Hoover ads that I haven't seen... but that certainly is not one of them.

It came from "Better Homes and Gardens" magazine. The ad was long and narrow and ran across the bottom half of a two-page spread. It's a lot bigger than it shows here, I guess the Imagealator® posting function reduced it down -- it's about 18" long and 7" high.
