I did manage to find a couple of vacuum related things over the weekend at Bibles For Missions Thrift Store.

The heavy cast metal flywheel turbine really gets the 12.5" double brushroll spinning and on a strong vacuum like a Compact or Lux 89 it will not bog down. I gather these are made for central vac systems and cost from $75 to over $100.

Low profile design gets under furniture with ease For it's seemingly boxy size and weight it maneuvers easily. Uses the Electrolux type spring friction ring to stay on a button-less standard 1.25" wand.

Glides snug to the rug with only two back wheels. Ball bearings used throughout for free spinning bits. Airpath seen under the clear plastic palte so you can detect clogs at a glance. Two sets of alternate stiff orange and softer white bristles grab everything and it did not leave grooming tracks, just a wide puffed path.

Davey -

My sister in Oregon put in a central system (called a "Vacu-Flo") and got this turbine head with the kit. It's a real sturdy fella, eh?

Yes, i have one with my Central Vac, but it has a brushroll with bristles that are placed an inch or so apart, instead of the continuous row,,i think this one you have would be a better performer than mine. The one i have is called an Ultra TP210,,whatever that means. Does OK on kitchen or low pile carpet,,not as agressive as i would like on thicker carpet pile,,but still not bad. Of course the stronger the vacuum suction, the faster and better the turbine performs.

Mine also has the brushroll where the bristles are not in one long row for the width of the brush. My reasoning is that this would cause less resistance, since fewer bristles are in contact with the carpet simultaneously and therefore helps to reduce the drag on the brushroll?
