The throw-away bag collars for both are d-shaped. (If it has a full cover and gizmo for lifting the bag -- that's Miracle Mate.)

You can tell with that paint job & colour scheme that they based the design heavily on the Tristar CXL... 
It'd be fun to see how the three stacked up against each other, This one, the Tristar CXL and the MircleMate, if they're all "the same" they should perform "the same", but I doubt it...

I like the styling of the Airstorm as well as the Tristar CXL. The Airstorm reminds me of a motorhome from the 50's, complete with whitewall tires and all. The Tristar CXL is cool art deco from the 30's or 40's. Both have a lot of character. Nice!

Hard to Find
I called Schoettler Research and Engineering Corp. and was referred to a number in LaGrande, Oregon. A lady named Carol from a company called Patriot, upsold me into 2 doz bags for $34.00. I cleaned the machine which was dirty outside but nice and clean inside. There are lots of hairline fractures in the pot metal body which I filled with caulk and let the suction pull the material into the aperatures. The bags did not come D shaped as expected but are skinny necked, round, cheap looking bags marked Tri-Star. The bag in the machine when I bought it was a Miracle Mate which I'd rather have had. All that said, the vacuum is quiet, the power nozzle light and easy to maneuver and the cord long enough to do a room without changing plug ins. The house is a year and a half old, I live alone and tend to be a clean freak. The daily driver is an Electrolux Silverado and the quicker picker upper vac is an Electrolux Gaurdian upright. The Air-Storm doesn't present as having much suction and the power nozzle is very light. I was shocked to see the amount of coarse dirt in the bag after just a cursory pick up to see how the machine worked. It won't be for me because it has no cordwinder or separate wands for the power nozzle, but its not bad for $9.00 worth of entertainment.

I Felt the Earth Move
I have been enjoying the Air-Storm. Its quiet, has reasonable suction and its extremely light on it's feet following where ever I go. The Power Nozzle is much the same, light and seems to float over the surfaces. I would have said it couldn't clean well but the contents of the bag tells another story. I was using the cleaner on an area rug upstairs and the most unearthly sound filled my ears. It sounded like the house was being drug off it's foundation. My first response was to turn off the power nozzle thinking I had got something in the roller and the noise continued. I wondered if it was the washing machine which is upstairs and then I noticed and smelled smoke pouring from the body of the Air-Storm. For $9.99 to purchase it and $34.00 for bags it returned 5 vacuuming experiences. Its hard to know if I got my monies worth. Any thought of reselling it was dashed by the multiple cracks in the magnesium housing. Gratefully the Air-Storm committed suicide before I foisted it on someone else by seizing a bearing and then burning the windings, but OMG what a 10 second show it was.[this post was last edited: 3/12/2012-16:10]
