VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

Yeah Fred! You got your Universal Upright! I knew you'd love it! They're just so easy to use, and super quiet!

Love the Princess! I wanted one of those SO BAD when I was a kid. The Health-Mor canisters were such awesome machines.

We gotta catch up soon!

Craigslist rules!

Great finds Fred, you did a beautiful job on the FQ. I have the Princess III and it's been my daily driver canister since it came into my home. Now, being a Craigslist surfer myself, a few weeks ago I saw a listing for "vacuum cleaner-$10.00" and I thought it would just be another POS Dirt-Devil or something comparable. I was amazed to find it was a Hoover Junior model U1025, and it looked amazing in the pic. I emailed the seller and gave her my number and she called me back that evening. She said it was her mom's who recently went into extended care and it was just sitting in her closet taking up space. I told her I definitely wanted it, she was pleased, and then said she thought there was a box of attachments somewhere also and she would look for them. You can imagine my excitement at that point. I went the next day to pick it up and she had it all displayed in her foyer when I got there! I don't think the tools were ever used, and everything was in the box including the manual and sales receipt for $49.99 in 1978, even a packing slip! I'd never seen one in this color, creme with a butterscotchy colored plate and a plaid bag of the same. I found out from Jeff P. that this was probably the last issue of this machine in the U.S. So, I will continue surfing Craigslist, you just never know what's out there!

Miele

Have you made a vid of you using the Miele yet? I have only used Miele canisters (which I love) but I have never seen the "stick vac" type that you have. (for lack of a better term).

QUESTION! What is the correct way to pronounce Miele? I always say "me-lah" but Martha Stewart was on TV the other day calling them "me-lay" which I don't think is correct.

:-)

Very good C-List finds, Fred! That Miele is the steal of the week, what a good looking vacuum. The FQ is pretty in all gray, almost military looking.

Not much good on C-list around here lately, but I search every day. I'll just keep using my "little mule" until something better comes along ;-)

Logan~

No Video of the Miele yet.

You are correct... It is "Me-lah" ...Martha was wrong. :-)

Greg.. I don't know that I have any that I would call a "Mule." I use so many of them so regularly...

:-)

Great Pictures of Miele & Filter Queen

I am new to Vacuumland. I just joined tonight. Fred S., I just bought a Miele S142. It didn't come with a powerhead. I noticed from your thread that either a SEB217 or a SEB236 will fit the Miele Universal vacuum. Is your powerhead a direct connect model or does it use a pigtail? I saw a SEB213 powerhead and wasn't sure if it would work with this model. I have done research and downloaded the PDF file for Miele S140 - S160 and it does discuss SEB236 and SEB217 powerhead's as options but doesn't indicate if they are direct connect. This machine is very powerful...almost sticks to the bare floor at maximum speed. I am thinking of getting a Miele canister late this year...probably an Aquarius model like Logan has. About 2 months ago, I purchased a Hoover Model 29 from Tom Anderson and I inquired about the Vaccumland site. He strongly encouraged me to join the group. I have been following the threads for about a year and have learned so much from this site. Always great to learn something new about Filter Queens, Royals, Hoovers, etc.
Thanks, Bob.
