Annual pilgrimage to North Canton Ohio.

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

That was one of our best conventions! The tour of the factory and museum was a highlight for me. I believe it was for the 100th anniversary.

Tom and Heather were such gracious hosts that year. Tom's collection was a thrill in and of itself. I loved the Hoover washing machines.

I believe it may have been one of our highest attended conventions. If memory serves me we also went to the Tri-Star plant as well. I think we have may have visited Kirby as well.

I just remember being exhausted when I got home.

It was my first conventnion.

I've returned every years since, at least once a year. It's great to be there where it all started.  I'm very welcomed in that town. Of course, I see a lot of my friends when I visit.  I usually bring some baked things from my home and have recently, upon request, made the infamous  iced tea from the Pittston Hospital.

I'll be leaving on Thursday, August 4.

A couple pics of the Hooverette would be nice, and any early electric competitors(though I think most are in storage).

Bradley,

I'm sensing a bit of hostility. Do we know each other?  Have we ever had words b/w us? I'm sorry if my posts annoy you.  You may always feel free to email me or call and we can talk.

Should I make my posts longer?  3 lines.

Damien,

Dick Pike died 3 days ago.  His funeral will be on Monday.

I'm proud to have been in his home numerous times.  I'm grateful to have known both him and his wife, Joellen.

Well, that's good to hear.

I was only there once in the winter.
We went to the Bag Plant 2 just before it closed. Then, we went to the Mc Kinley Museum, then to The Hoover Historical Center to a fab Christmas party and horse drawn sleighride around the property.

So, yes, some call it a pilgrimage. Others, well, it really matters not, so, who cares?
Silly, isn't it? Ridiculous, actually.
But I go regularly, because I'm welcome there.
I hope to see Ann Haines, too. Maybe I'll bring her some kitchen treats, too.

I spoke with Tom last night.

He's going to Dick Pike's wake on Sunday.

I believe Dick's son, Tom will remain in the home. (beautiful house)... been there numerous times.

I'll treasure all of the things I got there on various visits.

No doubt, we'll stop at the museum while I'm there.
Let the letter brigade begin.

I was at the store today.

I got all of the things needed to prepare the things I take to N. Canton.
I usually make a large amount of home made spaghetti sauce, meatballs and sausage.

I also bake banana nut breads, Irish sodabreads, and some cookies. Once there, I'll whip up a few pitchers of iced tea (yep).
I'm bringing a few vacuums for a general overhaul, as well as a special 'vintage' surprise for Tom.
A few days....................
