I am going to get a Xarion to complete my Airvolution line up too.

Comet had the All Floors model in red with full size Turbo Head for under £100 but it is now out of stock on line, so I will try and get it in store next week.

Could you post some photos of the tools please, including the underside of the main head. Also, I assume the suction control on the navigator handle is just an air bleed design and not a remote motor speed control?

I look forward to a video!

Hi, everyone...

Chris - I'm not one for canister/cylinder cleaners, but I find this...tolerable, lol. Performance isn't bad on carpets - although I'd never use straight-suction, even with a turbobrush, as my main cleaner. It's great on our laminate floors, though, which is where it really excels. I linked my full, illustrated review above the first photo I posted if you want to know more.

Shanon - yup! It's not entirely unusual, I do have 10 or so canisters. I just dislike using them for anything more than an occasional change of pace!

Tyler - these cleaners are no more real 'Hoover' than TTI-made US Hoovers. Everything they've made over the past decade has been beyond junk! The 'Airvolution' range is a step in the right direction, though. If only they could improve their build-quality...

Roger - linked above my first photo is my full, illustrated review of the Xarion, complete with photos of the tools (or rather, tool!). I didn't take a pic of the close-up pic of the floorhead, because it's a fairly standard part. I've taken one for you, though - I like the floorhead, it does a reasonable job on carpets and hard floors alike.

And yes, the suction control is just an air-bleed. An electronic control would have been more fun, but much more likely to go wrong, knowing the quality of components Hoover use now!

Oh - I forgot to add, I bought mine on eBay from 'DirectVacuums'. They had 10 of them for sale at £45 each. I made a best offer of £35, which was automatically accepted!

It arrived totally complete - all tools, Allergy Defender Granules, etc - and aside from the 'graded' stamp on the underside, it's indistinguishable from a brand-new machine!

Glad you had a better experience with DirectVacuums this time Jack.

My Freemotion Pureair bagged cleaner came from there and was like a brand new machine except for the graded stamp on the underside of the cleaner. I'll upload some photos of it soon.

Thanks for the pick of the floor head. It's very similar to the one used on the Octopus and Discovery cleaners, though they had a metal base plate.

Looks like Hoover have added to the Airvolution range in Europe with a new stick cleaner called Synua ....

Looks like it has attached tools also...

Thinking I'm going to have to add one of these to the collection..

Where are the floor brush bristles?

I have always wondered what happened to the floor bristles on the new convertible carpet/floor tools. Does a bristle strip appear when you flip the toggle to "bare floor mode" on your Airvolution floor head? Or does it just have a rubber "windshield wiper" instead? Don't these non-bristle nozzles scratch floors?

Floor Nozzles

The photo Jack posted has both the rubber wiper and the bristles. The wiper is situated at the rear of the head, below the curved grey plastic. The bristle brush is located at the front of the head, before the litter pickers.

Both the wiper and the brush extend downwards at a flick of a lever, effectively raising the black plastic soleplate and litter pickers clear of the floor.

I have to admit, I preferred the older floor nozzles when they had steel soleplates.

I guess with the wheel in the back and the bristles in the front, the plastic does not get near the floor. That's good.

But now with that rubber wiper blade, you can't pick up any dirt on the back stroke at all - this would just seem to push the dirt away from the air path. I much prefer the floor brushes that come with the North American Kenmores and older Hoovers. On those, there is one single brush strip down the centre of the nozzle (with some small bristle strips on the periphery for balance) and you can pick up dirt in either direction.

The powerful suction gets all the dirt in the forward stroke! It shouldn't take much to shift loose dust, grit and debris on a hard floor, anyway...
