I recently acquired this nice little Electrolux 500 "cough" I mean "Viking 507" from ebay and I wanted to share.

This machine was made in Britain by Electrolux as it appears to be identical to the 1980's variants of the popular Electrolux 500 series, aside from the voltage difference. It does run rather well and has pretty decent suction for it's era and for only using five amps.

By American standards it is quite small, which surprised me when it came. I have yet to give it a proper test as I am waiting for bags, belts, and new brushes to arrive from Britain, although I was able to test the motor, speed control, and height adjuster and everything seems to work properly.

I am very pleased to have this machine as it is very unique and very different from what we got over here.

Now some pics...

Although the 502 &504 were sold here in SA It was the 506 and later 560 that allowed Electrolux to take the market from Hoover in South Africa. Hoover had nothing to compete with it the senior and concept one still been sold here at that stage. They had far better tool suction than the Hoovers of the day.

These were my favorite vacuum as a Child I begged my mother to get one but she preferred her Moulinex, Funny that, I would have given anything as a child to get this vacuum but now I have many and only want a Moulinex.

Most of my moms friends had one, I have one on display in my shop and almost all the customers that come in recognize it as one there Mom/Gran/Aunt had or they owned one them selves.

Nice vacuum
