Ametek motor help.

Hello guys! It has been a long time since I have been on here. Decided to come back since I recently found a ClearTrak on the curb. Currently, the motor has a weird metallic sound to it and I decided to take a look. Took the machine apart and inspected the motor. Everything seem fine so I looked into the fan and saw dog fur everywhere. I suspect that's whats causing the motor troubles, or bearing problems. Do any of you know how to take apart the fan casing on a Ametek motor? I do not want to risk accidentally damaging it.

Ok, first of all, lock the motors shaft and remove the nut on thee end of the shaft. should be reverse threaded. Get a SMALL screwdriver and a hammer. there are 3 or more pressed areas on the top of the case. set the screwdriever the and hit the screwdriver. the case should slightly move. do that on all of the 3 pressed areas. Then just pry it off with the screwdriver and ul be good

Need a little help...

Okay. So yesterday I got a small screwdriver and started banging the 3 pressed areas on the case. The thing didn't budge at all and I feel like I might be doing more damage then help. I removed the little nut inside the fan like you said.

Most of the time when I service motors including Ametek, the fan case to the motor are glued or soldered on permanently. I usually clean motors out by using my Shop Vac Pro 18 gallon to vacuum the fan case inside and I use a large air compressor to blow out the dust that's on the brushes and the bearings, I don't want to get too close to the bearings because it could dry out.

By the way, does the ClearTrak have a motor suppressor filter or not?

Yes it probably did at one time.

One most ClearTraks they did have suppressor filters on them. But over time they would disintegrate. So I should just leave the motor alone and try to vacuum out all the crap inside of it? Also do you know what could be causing the weird motor problems in the video?

It's the bearings, mostly because all the dust and dirt got caked inside the motor. If you still think you can take the fan case apart to get all that dirt out inside, go for it. I usually just leave the motor alone and clean it out with a vacuum and a air compressor, it will take longer to do but at least I wouldn't bother damaging the motor just by trying to take it apart.

Any foam or suppressor filter will wear out over time, they wouldn't last forever. I usually wash those filters in my front load washing machine on delicate and if they do wear out, I would just simply replace them. They not expensive to replace. I'm considering about getting a ClearTrak if I get my own cabin but if the ClearTrak no longer uses suppressor filters or if I can't find one to fit inside the vacuum, I will pass and look for something else. I don't want carbon dust coming out from the motor.
